| Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:57 PM | | Ben has had his first post treatment body scans and he is still NED. NED means No Evidence of Disease. He will be getting scanned and having blood tests every 3 months for 2 years and then it move to every 4 months. Thank you all for supporting Ben and our family throughout this rough journey. Ben is not without side effects, but, they are tolerable and getting better. He is being evaluated for an effect they call "chemo brain" and he has lost some of his hearing in the ranges above normal conversation. more...The "chemo brain" is presenting itself when he tries to express himself and in his short term memory. We are hoping this will improve and we are also trying to help him develop coping skills. less | |
| Monday, October 1, 2007 at 11:26 AM | | On September 21st our family went to Disney World in Florida to celebrate that Ben is officially NED...No Evidence of Disease...We spent the last 10 days there and it was a great celebration. When we arrived back home I took Ben to the Men's restroom immediately after getting off the plane. As we were walking out of the bathroom Ben turned to me and said, "Am I dreaming or did all of this just happen. I keep blinking, but, I think it really did." I told him him he was right it was all real. He was more...smiling, laughing and started to skip so I assume he was just talking about the Disney trip. less | |
| Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 6:50 PM | | We just came back from a family weekend at a Double H camp weekend for families who have kids affected by cancer and life threatening ilnesses. It was really wonderful. They have a ropes course and Ben conquered his fears and walked on ropes and cables 60 feet up in the trees. It was wonderful to see him and the other children do things they might have thought was beyond their capabilities. I have video and will be putting it together. | |
| Monday, September 3, 2007 at 8:49 PM | | Our latest creation is encoding as I type this. We really hope you all enjoy this video. Ben is doing very well. He will be going to clinic tomorrow for more tests and to find out his schedule for a CAT scan, bone scan, and series of x-rays. It seems the hospital is having a tough time with our insurance company. If they are giving us difficulties with the first set of scans after chemotherapy is done I can't wait to find out how they react to our schedule of scans every 3 months. | |

 | | | | | | Interview with Ben 08:59 Ben and I were playing with our video camera. It is really a toy video camera from Tiger. He was performing fake newscasts. Between newscasts he asked more...me if I would interview him. Here is the raw interview. For those of you who don't know Ben he was diagnosed in September of 2006 with osteosarcoma. It is a rare predominantly childhood cancer. less Added: Jan 13, 08 Views: 67 Category: Video Blogs |
| | Benjamin Unwritten 04:16 One of our favorite songs with images of the boys. We try to show that there is a great deal more to going through chemotherapy and limb salvage surgery more...than pain and discomfort. Above all Ben has managed to face this with grace and humor. Realizing that the "rest is still unwritten" and we all "need to release our inhibitions." Please enjoy this video and the spirit with which it was created. Ben was diagnosed with Stage 3 High grade osteogenic sarcoma on September 25th, 2006. He underwent limb salvage surgery in April of 2007. Over 80% of his right upper arm bone was replaced with a donor bone at that time. All of the footage was shot after that surgery and most of it within the past month. Thank you for watching. less Added: Sep 3, 07 Views: 163 Category: People |
| | | Ben and James - Our Goofy Goobers 03:10 Ben was inspired by the videos of guitarmilt to create this video. Ben enlisted his twin brother James to assist with the performance. Ben wanted to show more...the world that receiving chemotherapy is more than just being hooked up to an IV pump. Sorry for the audio quality. I was going to record over it with the song, but, I thought the boys singing added to the humor. Ben was diagnosed on September 25th 2006 with osteaosarcoma in his right humerus. He had limb salvage surgery in February 2007. He is doing very well. Ben is almost done with chemotherapy. http://www.greendrakkoman.com less Added: Aug 10, 07 Views: 112 Category: Entertainment |
