| Come for a drive. Whether it's a leafy little lane, a motorway or a busy urban scene, I hope you'll enjoy it. The exhilaration of driving on the open road speaks for itself. But driving doesn't have to be about going fast. Driving is usually a social experience - interacting with other road users, anticipating what each is going to do, giving and taking. The standard of driving in the UK is pretty good, in my opinion. Most people are prepared to give way when it's appropriate, often with a show more...of the hand, a salute or a quick, acknowledging flash of their headlights. And considerate driving can be infectious, just as rude driving can. We must be doing something right in the UK - we have the second or third best road-safety record in the world. That's still just over 3,000 road deaths a year. That's 3,000 too many. I believe the figure in the USA is over 42,000 road deaths a year. Take care!
