With grown children, I now find I have quite a bit of time on my hands. I've picked up an old love of pottery and a new love for video tutorials and vlogs. I'll try my hand at both and conduct some personal experiments along the way.

Started a bisque kiln, should be able to open it up tomorrow.
Of course I had to pick the most blustery snow day to be running outside to babysit the kiln! Record snowfalls here today!

If I can get a fire lit under my butt, I want to go the pottery supply. It's time to make glazes!!!! yipee!....I do have a couple of commercial glazes but where's the fun in that?
I'm also going to make an engobe (pale grey-blue) and a slip glaze from the clay that came from New Brunswick. It's got such a rich colour I think it will turn out nice.

Bad news, the son decided next weekend worked better for him for coming into the city....ah well.
I fired the kiln anyway...started it around noon Saturday. No power problems but did discover my pyrometer doesn't work....hahahahah
mommamia!
Made a couple of logistics mistakes....I'll mention those in a video later today. Basically had to guess when I figured the kiln was hot enough.
So, really who can say what went on in there....I turned the kiln off at 1am. Checked it   more...

I'm off to pick up my son Kenan. He lives in Orillia, which is about an hour's drive from me. Well when traffic is slow...lol Leaving the city on a Friday isn't exactly easy. But! It is coming into fall now so hopefully traffic won't be too bad. Kenan lives 115kms from me and a couple of weeks ago it took over 3 hrs to get to his house! ARGGGG... I'm going to bring the camera along for the drive.

That is from "Stewart Smalley" on SNL. "You are wonderful, you are worth it, and gosh darn it, people like you!"

Hi bottlewasher, Just a quick note to wish you luck on your newest endeavor. I know you talk to yourself so why not be the first to congratulate you on breaking out! LMAO....(Self affirmation really can help sometimes) But just saying the words remind   more...
