 Philosophical question
Thursday, July 31, 2008 (3:06 PM)
(I'm feeling thoughtful)
So why do you think you are here? on this earth, alive, having a life? What is the purpose of you?
I would really like to know the answer to my question.
Is the point of a human life to:
a) be selfish and just enjoy ourselves as much as possible, and reach our true potential in whatever way we are inclined, for example if someone has a thing about mountain climbing, should they strive to climb the biggest and most challenging mountain possible so that they can achieve their life long wish, desire and calling?
and should the child who has dancing in their bones, dance and dance until they thrill themselves to pieces leaping through the air with the biggest and bestest ballet company in the land?

or is it
b) that a person should totally deny themselves, and try to live a selfless life either doing God's will, or if not religious, doing some selfless work, putting others before themselves as a loving wife, mother, care worker, and all round martyrish saint, gaining pleasure from seeing others grow and thrive? thus earning a big reward in the next life because they sacrificed themselves in this one?

When we die and end up somewhere is the door person going to say haha you got it wrong you should have done a) and had more fun you silly saint
or will they frown and say you got it wrong you should have done b) God warned you many times that you should have been more saintly and you ignored all that.

Or is it
c) there no heaven anyway, and its all up for grabs, no judgement at the end, just this life, and therefore get what you can while you can as long as you don't hurt anyone else, probably with some karma system in operation whereby if you hurt, you get hurt back.

I would like to know the answer, because if its a) then I've been far too saintly so far and haven't done any of the things I really want to do
If its b) then I better start behaving
and if its c) then I better get in credit with the karma thing.

I would be interested to know what you think

 A Childhood memory
Friday, July 18, 2008 (3:16 PM)
(I'm feeling nostalgic)
I was seven years old and my mother took me to the hairdressers. All of a sudden the hairdresser started chopping my beautiful blond pigtails off. I hadn't been told this was going to happen. I can remember the crunching sound as the scissors cut through the thick hair and my shock when I saw them drop on the floor.

I was so upset I started crying and bawling like a baby. Both my mum and the hairdresser soon had tears in their eyes as well. The hairdresser ran and found a little box for me to put them in so I could take them home.

When I got home I stood in front of the mirror and tried to stick them back on with grips which didn't work. I was heartbroken.

Moral of the tale: Never trust anyone with your pigtails

 progress
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 (4:30 AM)
(I'm feeling creative)
just remembered this blog thing. I haven't thought about it for a long time, and noticed that I have had a couple of comments. Thank you very much to you two!
I am really pleased about progress on the guitar. My standards are low and I have almost reached where I want to be! I can play 7 chords now A D E C G Em and Am and more or less play without looking at the strings all the time. The next big thing is to be able to finger pick. I just can't do it, but as with all things in life I just have to do it over and over again and it will click, well I hope it does, because finger picking always sounds better than strumming to me anyhoo.
I have had my 30 year dream of being able to play Leonard Cohen songs come true, I can do three of them now. This is thanks to chordie a site where you can transpose the chords of any song into the ones that you know. You just have to click on the transpose thing and you can go 6 semitones up or six down until the chords are the ones you know. How fab is that. I think beginners need to know about this, it means you can play anything you like practically, just by transposing. I remember I looked in a Leonard Cohen song book in a shop once and saw the most impossible looking chords for his songs, no need to be frightened about that, just go to chordie and change them. So if any hopeless beginners are reading this, tell me your guitar problems, you can't be worse than me lol

 open mic night
Wednesday, February 13, 2008 (1:17 AM)
(I'm feeling artistic)
Went to an open mic evening last night. All sorts of talent there. Dave played bluegrass with a banjo player. Sounded great in my opinion, really nice looking banjo, all silvery looking. Open mic evenings are something else. Talent ranged from someone belting out Stand by me, to someone playing and singing Walk the line an octave too high!
I would never dare stand up and do something myself, but appreciate hearing others.

 music blog

(I'm feeling artistic)
ah ha, I've never done a blog in my life. I don't expect a single person to read this,so I am going to talk to myself. I would like to play some Leonard Cohen songs on the guitar. In theory I can play two songs now. Suzanne, and Hey thats no way to say goodbye. The only trouble is my voice is tempermental and today it isn't there. How come other people seem to be able to sing loud without any trouble?
