| | My first crash | | | Sunday, May 3, 2009 (7:05 PM) (I'm feeling sore) | | I'm gonna talk about the motorcycle accident that I had on April 23.
I was riding on the biggest main road in Omaha, the Dodge street, going from west to east.
there is a left turn lane with no traffic light at 70th and Dodge in each direction.
as I was approaching 70th street, the car waiting for left turn in the coming direction pulled out and began to turn in front of me.
I was doing 35mph. I started to brake, but it was too slow. all I can remember was I landed on the pavement facing down, I can't remember how I hit the car, but I didn't pass out.
then I was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
my collar bone fractured in the accident, everything else is fine.
the car driver was at fault, so she's gonna pay for everything. | | | 69 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 1 Comment

| | Changed the oil. | | | Saturday, October 11, 2008 (10:15 PM) (I'm feeling happy) | | took my bike for a service. the oil was very dirty. the previous owner didn't change it, and it had been in there for a year. the service charged me $40 for parts and labor, which is way more expensive than a car service.
after the oil change, the clutch went better, much more smooth engaging. the engine run smoother. I rode it on street for 30miles using 5000-7000rpm, then went on interstate using 8000-9000rpm for 50miles, and raced a Mustang GT using 10000-11000rpm several times.
although the engine has less than 500miles on it, staying less than 4000rpm is ridiculous especially for engine this small. I need to keep up the traffic, so I need more revs.
my riding went better than yesterday. it was much relaxing, so I could focus on the road instead of operating the bike. | | | 189 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 1 Comment

| | More riding. | | | Friday, October 10, 2008 (5:03 PM) (I'm feeling happy) | | I took the bike out for more riding. I rode to school to see my friends. All my friends went like :O, and I love to see their faces when they knew it was me. there wasn't much traffic that night, so it was pretty easy to get there. I had problems deciding gears, which can only be solved by practicing.
riding in traffic is harder than I thought. I just went out during rush hour, and cars were everywhere. because I'm still learning, I can't deal with traffic as good as I drive a car. when I drive a car, I can see further, so I can see more. when I was riding, I couldn't see that much, and I had to put much more concentration on operating my bike. I stalled three times.
biker waving is really fun to do. I waved to all the bikers I saw, most of the sportbike riders waved back, some of the cruiser riders waved back, but none of the Harley riders waved back. I think these Harley riders think sportbikes as toys, toys are for kids not for men. maybe that's why ,but I don't know, just guessing.
I returned my AGV boots because they don't fit well. they have either size 8 or 9, and I'm 8.5. 9 is too big, and 8 is too small for me. I went for Alpinestars' boots which are little pricey, but they will fit better. the store gave me discount, which is pretty nice. | | | 172 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | My very first riding. | | | Thursday, October 9, 2008 (6:13 AM) (I'm feeling excited) | | OK, here is the thing.
I started watching M13's vids months back to this summer, and I was inspired by the freedom of riding a motorcycle. I booked a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course then, and I finished last weekend.
The course was not only fun but also very useful. I learned how to get used to the clutch, balance a bike, start and stop, negotiate corners, go around obstacles, do U-turns, and so on. I did pass, but not perfectly. anyways, I got my license and my bike.
I ordered some gears last week, which arrived yesterday. I tried them on, but I'd never expected how heavy these gears were. they fit perfectly, so I took a ride last midnight which had almost no traffic on the road.
the riding was great. it felt like I was flying, and I have to say, I was flying (no speeding). the Ninja 250, on the other hand, I could not rev very high because it hasn't been fully broken in, but at least I felt something. | | | 175 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | Got me a bike. | | | Thursday, October 9, 2008 (6:14 AM) (I'm feeling happy) | | yeah, as it said in the title, I got my the very fist bike in my life. it's not a liter bike or a 600cc bike but a 250cc sportbike.
I've been to m13online for a long time, and I've read a lot about the beneficial of getting Ninja 250 as the first bike especially for someone like me who has never been on a bike before.
so, here it is my 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250. | | | 172 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments
