| | stuff lately | | | | Saturday, September 27, 2008 (10:36 PM) | | Today was FUN dude. It was Ken's big birthday thang. We got up dead early (at least I did, I was so excited) and had Ken drive while I gave directions. He didn't know where we were going. Actually it ended up his brother reading the directions to him but still, I wrote them down at least. But anyway it was a big surprise until he saw the sign-the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. We went on an hour-long tour around the center and it was pretty neat. The guide told us all about each wolf-where they came from and how they came to live at the center. The GOOD part was after the tour though-I got us the VIP tour where we actually got to GO IN with some of the wolves!! I got wolf kisses today, and I got to pet a couple of them. It was NEAT. Plus we went in with an endangered species-the swift fox. AND we got pics which I may post, I don't know. Maybe a couple of the good ones. Then we went and ate at a really good Middle Eastern restaurant called Heart of Jerusalem. The food was great but the mint tea was deeply disappointing to me. Ken said it was mixed with black tea; all I know is it was really freaking bitter. Boo. But the rest? Gorgeousness. Then we went and Ken got his first tattoo! It is really cool-it's something he designed himself. It's a bike chainring with the Japanese symbol for the word for sword (which happens to be the word "ken") in the middle. It's really awesome. I think it's pretty neat that I got to be there for his first tattoo.
We were supposed to go pick up the final part of his present (partly-I guess it's mostly for me in reality)-a Brazilian rainbow boa. She will live in my livingroom.
Oh and the leucistic rat finally came. His name is Mirlk and he is really really pretty and cute. I'm a little scared of him though-he looks like he wants to bite me. But I'll get over it | | | 84 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | Give me a break. | | | | Tuesday, September 23, 2008 (2:51 PM) | | So I ordered the snake on Saturday or Sunday, I forget which. This involved calling some guy in Rhode Island a few times and then trying to get them to understand my credit card number. You'd think I'd pay attention to the warning signs BUT NO. NO I DID NOT.
So now they still haven't pulled any money from my account NOR have they responded to my email. STUPIDJERKS. I want my Milk!
The pronunciation, btw, is "mirlk". I may even just spell it that way.
See, back in the day when I worked in Hell...oh, I mean-when I worked at Burger King, there was this kid. He used to pronounce milk "mirlk". I love that shit so that's how I say it now. mirlkshakes. YOM
But I still want my neato white snake. HURRY UP RHODE ISLAND! | | | 88 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | snake again | | | | Monday, September 22, 2008 (3:07 PM) | | I'm expecting a snake in the mail tomorrow. It's a male leucistic Texas rat snake. Google them, they're totally cool looking. He's a baby. I have to wait and see what his name is when I meet him but I'm thinking it's Milk.
We may also be going to look at a Brazilian rainbow boa tonight for Ken's birthday. I told him the snake or a tattoo so we're going to meet the snake, hopefully. I don't really know if it's still available as it was on Craigslist and I haven't heard back yet but we'll see. I have 2 55 gallon tanks that need filling up. Right now they're just sitting empty in my living room driving me crazy every time I look at them. | | | 95 Views | 2 Thumbs Up | 2 Comments

| | Grandmom's Mac and Cheese | | | | Saturday, September 13, 2008 (12:11 PM) | | 1 pound pasta shells (holds the sauce better than elbows)
2 2-cup bags shredded cheddar
1 2-cup bag shredded colby-jack
1 large can evaporated milk
1/2 a quart of half and half (what is that, a pint? I forget)
3 eggs
Boil the pasta. Drain it and put it in a big enough casserole dish. I think I used a roasting pan or something. Add the milk, half and half, cheese and beaten eggs. Bake at 325 until the eggs are cooked and it isn't soupy. I think it was maybe 35-40 minutes? This is what happens when I only half-assed pay attention to what I'm doing. I will actually be adding a can of cheddar cheese soup/sauce to the next batch. If you try it that way let me know if it sucks or not. I'm thinking it will be a pretty awesome addition. | | | 75 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | I make awesome macaroni and cheese. | | | Thursday, September 11, 2008 (5:10 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | I make it like my grandmom did for Thanksgiving and wow. I amaze myself with the goodness.
Ken ordered a wad of tarantulas (yes, of COURSE that is the technical word for a group of tarantulas) so now I have 41 tarantulas in my house. What is THAT about. And 3 snakes! Plus Catcat and Jessie. I enjoy it though, I am expecting 4 new snakes in the mail tomorrow (google Florida blue garters, they're GORGEOUS) and 6 more tarantulas next week. Plus I'm waiting to hear about 3 MORE tarantulas that I want to buy-I'll know about those either later tonight or by tomorrow morning.
Carl's head would have exploded if I had done this with him but Ken enjoys it just as much as I do. He's really fun, I'm so glad I am with him. Who knew this would happen? Life is so weird. | | | 89 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 1 Comment

| | Technical Writing Class | | | Monday, September 8, 2008 (12:42 PM) (I'm feeling mischievous) | | This is me procrastinating about writing a Technical Writing assignment. I have to do a data sheet. I decided to write about a tarantula display/enclosure that I have been thinking about.
But I don't WANNA do it! I want to fool around on the 'net all day while I eat candy and pet my cat! | | | 72 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | home again | | | | Thursday, March 20, 2008 (1:38 PM) | | | I'm back from Carl's graduation. He made the commandant's list! That means he was in the top 20% of his class. Yay Carl. I think we're arguing again though, I don't think he's speaking to me. Oh well. He's only in town for 2 weeks before moving out anyway. I found a little cottage that I like the looks of. It's well within my budget and is NOT an apartment or duplex, it's separate from any other housing. It looks like it might be too small though, I may have to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I don't really want to do that but what can you do? I just don't want to have to get rid of my chest freezer. That thing is remarkably handy. I think I'll call about it this weekend anyway; maybe I can fit it in there somewhere. | | | 124 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments | |
