 Sorry for Disappearing
Saturday, June 28, 2008 (9:19 PM)
Dear Friends,

I'm sorry for disappearing for so long! I've been working A LOT!! I have also been doing a lot of life reflection.

I've come to the conclusion that life doesn't happen when you sit in front of the TV or the computer. Life happens when we make face to face connections and DO things!! I'm tired of sitting on my ass! I'm not saying that the friendships I have made on here aren't meaningless or aren't important. And the computer is a great resource, however, in our ever growing technologically advanced society, I fear that we have become dependent upon this resource, as we have on the ever depleting oil. And as we scramble in our oil crisis I can see that we are also starting to scramble for life and it's meaning. We've forgotten how to get outside and face the world we live in! We've forgotten our neighbor's faces and have become accustomed to living in our own little boxes for so long!

How 'bout we get outside and enjoy this Earth and the people on it while we still have the chance!

Love you all and I'll be checking in from time to time!!

Muwah!

 The End
Friday, May 16, 2008 (11:56 PM)
(I'm feeling blank)
It is Friday.... THANK GOD!!

This week was so crazy! I had 1 final on Tuesday and 3 finals plus a retake exam on Wednesday. I also worked nearly 35 hours this week.... SO I WAS REALLY BUSY!

It's always kind of weird at the end of the school year, because I'm so used to just go go going that I don't know what to do with myself when I just have to work, or I have an entire day off to do whatever the heck I want to...

Today was one of those days... so I decided to do something:

I woke up early and met a couple of friends and we went to IHop to get breakfast before they moved back home for the summer. It was a fun time and reasonably good food.

Then I met another friend and her boyfriend and we explored the city. We used the bus system cause we could.... and we really like to ride the bus! We walked around downtown and had lunch at Old Chicago's. Then we ended up at the mall, where we walked around and tried not to break things....

All in all, it was a good day. On my bus ride home I was thinking: "man...I did nothing today..." But, then I realized, I did do something, in fact, I did 2 something that I frequently forget to do: 1. I hung out with friends 2. I HAD FUN!

Well, I hope everyone else is excited about summer!!!! I am! Just a heads up; I'll be going home (KS) between May 21 and June 3(ish).... and my parents live out in the country and don't have internet. So, be forewarned that I probably won't be on here until after I get back home (as in where I live....in CO).

 I CAN'T STUDY!!!
Sunday, May 4, 2008 (9:29 PM)
(I'm feeling annoyed)
I can't study....... I have a final exam on Thursday and then 4 next week.....

OH GEEZ! I just looked at the clock and saw that it is 10:30PM!!! Yeah, I know that really isn't late.... but I get up during the week days and am at the gym by 6am....

I guess I'm not really going to study tonight. Every time I sit down someone needs me... or I distract myself.

I gotta give a big shout out to Photo2010! I'm pretty new to LV, so I don't know who will actually read this... but Photo is an amazing guy and everyone should look him up! Photo we gotta have some 1-on-1 chat sessions cause I want to pick your brain! You have been through some tough stuff and have done great things!

Alright... I'm gonna pop in a movie to fall asleep to....

Love y'all!

Peace out!

 Just because it's popular....
Saturday, May 3, 2008 (11:31 AM)
(I'm feeling artistic)
Ok, so I've had my fair share of "next best thing envy." In an iWorld, how can you not. Mp3 players replaced the CD's and then came the iPod's, followed by the iPhone.... and then the Wii (... I don't know if that is made by Apple, but it has little "i"s in it...). Let's face it, we are living in an incredibly fast changing world.

The problem comes when we get to an all too famous American saying: "Keeping up with the Jones'." As American's we are fed all kinds of advertisements; whether it is driving to work, listening to the radio, watching TV or just looking around at other people passing by, we unknowingly absorb hundreds, if not thousands of product endorsement every day.

By now, you're probably reading and saying: "What's her point?!" or "Ok, get on with it!" Well, sorry I can't cut to commercial like you are used to... but that is a little impossible when writing. Do you see how ingrained we all are to commercials and advertisements? The American culture is so incredibly desensitized by it all that we all, in our own way, have ADD! (...oh and then we get diagnosed... and medicated... when what we really need to do is just slow down our lives... but that is an entirely different blog entry!)

As a consumer, we all need to be more conscience about what we are spending our money on. I'm sure you want what is "best." Did, you ever think that you already have the best?? We are filling our lives with things, with objects that immediately decrease in value as soon as their package is opened. I challenge you to do something different. You have gotten along just fine, in fact probably pretty happily, without that new phone, music player or designer outfit. I challenge you to stop turning yourself into a walking billboard! Do it, just for a day! Then try it for two.

Then on the third day, when you are feeling so lonely without your earbuds and phone polluting your cranium, I want you to grab a few friends and just go for a walk, stroll around, sit and play cards (...if you don't know how to play any games check out this site). What I hope you realize, is that friendships and family never decrease in value the same way that "things" do, in fact, they increase with time!

Oh! ... and the next time you think about buying something, ask yourself: "Self? Am I buying this (insert object here) because it will increase the value of my life? ... or am I buying this just because it's popular?"
