| | Autumn, etc. | | | Tuesday, October 13, 2009 (3:32 PM) (I'm feeling cheerful) | | Well, autumn is here, and with it come some great holidays. One of those holidays is halloween, which is among my favorite holidays, largely because of my interest in the paranormal. I have a strong belief that the spirits of those who have passed on are always around us, and that spirits are everywhere. To me, halloween is great because it brings the paranormal into greater focus than at any other time of year, but, as I just stated, I believe that the spirits of the dead are always around us. I also very much enjoy decorating for halloween, and it's always interesting to see some of the halloween decorations that one sees in stores around this time of year. When it comes to ghosts/spirits, I believe (as many other believers in the paranormal do) that ghosts are most active a few days after, during, and before new and full moons, as the new and full moons affect the electromagnetic field of the earth, allowing spirits to be more active than at other times (it is believed that spirits are energy, which is why many paranormal investigators measure EMF [electromagnetic fields] when investigating the paranormal). Also, when it comes to God, I am an agnostic bordering on atheism, but I still consider myself to be spiritual, just in a different way than most religious people. I am a big fan of Eckhart Tolle, who is a spiritual author who teaches how to make our daily lives more positive and with less suffering. I have one of his books, "A New Earth", which is among my favorite books. The view of spirituality that Eckhart Tolle puts forth has to do with one's state of consciousness (being more positive, less reactive, etc) and has less to do with what one believes. But anyway, that's all for now.
peace,

| | About me... | | | Sunday, April 5, 2009 (3:20 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | a couple years ago, a counselor I had diagnosed me with something called aspergers syndrome. it is a mild disorder that particularly affects social skills. the more I reseach it, the more I know the counselor was right. it's not something I'm upset about, and in fact, it helps explain alot of things about myself that are unique and different about me. I have copied and pasted a list of symptoms; most of them will only be familiar (in reference to me) to those who have met me in person, and those who know me well, like my family. one symptom that isn't listed in this particular list is the tendency of people like me to have long conversations about one of our specific interests.
* I find social situations confusing.
* I find it hard to make small talk.
* I did not enjoy imaginative story-writing at school.
*
I am good at picking up details and facts.
*
I find it hard to work out what other people are thinking and feeling.
*
I can focus on certain things for very long periods.
*
People often say I was rude even when this was not intended.
*
I have unusually strong, narrow interests.
*
I do certain things in an inflexible, repetitive way.
*
I have always had difficulty making friends.

| | Esperanto... | | | Saturday, February 7, 2009 (2:58 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | I may or may not have mentioned this before, but a couple years ago I developed an interest in the language called Esperanto, which was created by Ludvic Zamenhof in the mid 1800's and intended as an international language. It has logical, consistent grammar rules, and is very easy to learn, and I also find it to be a beautiful language. as an example of esperanto, I will translate the phrase, "I am a spiritualist": mi estas spiritiston (the "n" at the end of the last word marks it as the object of the sentence when there are no prepositions before it). the esperanto word for peace is "paco" (pronounced "pahts-oh"), and the esperanto word for peaceful is "paca" (-a is the adjective ending). to say, "I love you", you would say "mi amas vin"; to say, I'm reading my book, you would say "mi legas mian libron". anyway, it is a language that I hope will become the established international auxilliary language some day, and I will continue to learn it.
peace be with you (paco estu kun vi).

| | New Nature Video.... | | | Sunday, January 4, 2009 (9:01 PM) (I'm feeling accomplished) | | some footage of a what I am pretty sure is a junco in my grandmother's backyard. it's been a while since I've been
able to get actual footage of an animal, and I was happy to be able to record a bird in a wintry scene. there's something about snow and birds gathering at a feeder that I find to be a very pleasant sight. in the video, the junco is on the ground below the feeder, eating seeds that have fallen from the feeder. anyway, I think I've done more than enough of a description.

| | The New Year... | | | Wednesday, December 31, 2008 (4:10 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | well, it's new years eve, and soon it will be 2009. I hope the new year is a good one, for me and everyone. Also, in the new year I hope to be even more honest with myself about things like what I truly believe. on that subject, I have realized that I have pantheist leanings; I view the divine as equivalent to the universe and nature, and I view this divine presence as a creative power as well. and I will always believe in ghosts and the paranormal.
anyway,
happy new year everyone! | | | 54 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments | |

| | A Poem... | | | Wednesday, December 17, 2008 (6:54 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | here is a poem I wrote recently:
THE SNOWY NIGHT
dense clouds fill the sky
as an icy wind blows, snow
rides the wind to earth
as the snowfall wanes
pine trees show their snowy coats
