 Love in the Church
Monday, August 18, 2008 (6:55 AM)
Seven years ago while i was on a field pacement with campus crusade one of the students I interviewed said something so profound that it has stuck with me to this day.  Wen I aksed him one of the many questions on this questionaire that every worker with campus crusade hads out (by the way I never got to the step to peace with God  that we were armed with at the start of our evangelistic crusade into the cafeteria because God had apointed the student as the teacher for that period of time and me the "expert evangelist" as the one receving instruction in the ways of God).  The question was "What can the Christian church do fo you"?; his answer was "show me the love that you profess so much because I have never seen it".

This memory came to the forefront of my mind recently while I was at a church event yesterday when a man I LOVE AND RESPECT ASKED ME  IF i WAS A CHRSITIAN, I said yes and he said really with a doubting look on his face while looking at my roman collar and my black clothing.  i said to him are you a christian, he answered to the affirmative, I said I know you are but if i had been a stranger he/she would never had known because you would have just insulted them in the first 30 seconds of the conversation.

How is the wolrd supposed to know the love f Christ if we do not folow his commandments to "Love the Lord you God with all you heart with all your soul with all your mind, and love you neighbour as you love yourself"; and "Be holy as I am holy".

I apologize now on behalf of the christian church to all those people we have sinned against more than that I ask your forgiveness as i forgive those who have wronged me and their fellow disciples who have left the church because of their hard hearted ness and their ignorance of the teachings of the person whom they say they love the most.

Father C.
