By james a. galgano
On the other side of tomorrow
Where memories fade into the abyss of eternity
Taking with them all the hopes and dreams
Of what never was nor will ever be
Lies a time never again to be
Built upon the sacrifice and sweat of ancestry
Now posthumously praised yet so easily forgotten
Written off as a misinformed budget breaking expense
Thereby forgetting what requires recompense
To care for the less fortunate, the infirm, young and elderly
Who in fact should be those dearly cared for completely
If our history of achievement and progress were to make any sense
Nevertheless there are many in power who deem this a drain on our economy
Seeming to forget it ignores the foundation of our national obligation
To form a more perfect union, promote the general welfare,
Establish justice and preserve and protect our domestic tranquility
Upon these truths we once deemed self-evident into perpetuity
Are now not only taken for granted but easily bargained away
Upon the tendency to regard the moneyed interests and powers that be
More an overriding obligation than making the necessary sacrifice for our posterity
To demonstrate and insure that for the historical efforts those before gallantly made
Are shown their honor and thanks for these everyday heroics and not feel betrayed
As well as encourage our future generations to be as productive in their participation
For an equal share for meeting their own expected obligations
To forego these ideals to preserve corporate profits and thee elite’s status quo
Will lead us down the darkened path for as reap we shall sow the seeds of discontent
And the hard earned efforts of all for a better life will be poorly misspent
From the trust of all past, present and future from whom our actions now borrow
Clearly determining on which side we will be in a not to distant tomorrow

The saucier’s swindle
Though neither suave, quick nor nimble
Committed an act of egregious act
That was more than a mere symbol
Of greed abandon of any concern
Other than how much one can earn
Of f calculated bemused beguile
With mere exaggeration, a wink and a smile
To empty bank accounts of lifelong earnings
Preying about the dreams of wealth and hopeful yearning
Of more than a gullible few
Unable to uncover the obvious clues
Which lead their future astray
Without recompense promised till this day
Despite the numerous convictions
There was never a predilection or plan
To make amends for wrongs committed again
Not even as an afterthought to the suffering and pain
For the hurt and suffering that remains
Lingering like monetary scars of what was lost
Without ever a punishment to repay all cost
And provide required restitution
To salvage a lifetime of dreams lost to delusion
Demonstrating the inability of the economic system’s to reply
Nor remedy the continued bright and shining lie
That remains intact to promote and betray
The trust of all upon the law to remedy without delay
To prevent same of similar actions from occurring once more
In much the same way as before
By those who wish to make their mark and fame
Upon the hopes of those longing to gain
A chance to secure for themselves and their progeny
Their right to secure a better life, happiness and liberty
On this remnant of a now shallow city on a hill
From which on can see such swindles happening still
Without a promise it will never happen again
Upon the whims of such unscrupulous men

| | HERE SHE ONCE WAS | | | | Saturday, November 29, 2008 (5:44 AM) | | | HERE SHE ONCE WAS
BY JAMES A. GALGANO
MY WONDERING TOMORROW
WHERE ARE YOU NOW
HOLDING HANDS WITH YESTERDAY
WHILE I DRY EACH DANGLING TEAR
OF ITS RECURRING MEMORY
THAT ONCE SANG OF OUR LOVE IN GLEE
CLINGING UPON EACH INDENTURED PHRASE
AND EMPHATICALLY DECRIBED YOU HERE
WITH ME IN LOVE AND LAUGHTER
WHILE EACH MOMENT SLIPPED PRECARIOUSLY AWAY
SILENTLY UNAWARE THROUGH EACH EMBRACE
THAT REFUSED TO RELEASE ME WILLINGLY
EVEN AFTERWARDS AS I FELL INTO SORROW'S MIRE
OF WHAT I WILL NO LONGER SHARE WITHOUT YOU HERE
AS THOSE NIGHTMARES HAUNT ME STILL
HERE BELOW MY HEARTS ETERNAL FIRE
WHERE YOU ONCE SPOKE TO ME OF ROMANCE
WITHIN OUR BODIES' ENTANGLED CONFINES
OF WHAT MIGHT FOREVER BE
NOW HERE I AM WITHOUT YOU
LEFT IN EVERY SHADOWS WANDERING
MEANDERING AIMLESSLY
A SOUL WADING UPON EACH MEMORY STILL
AS IT SINKS SLOWLY OUT OF VIEW
INTO THE COMFORTING CONFINES
OF INEVITABLY EACH LONELY TOMORROW'S
MORNING DEW

BY JAMES A. GALGANO
--------------------
ONCE THERE WAS A DREAM
FROM WHICH WE NEVER WANTED TO WAKE
IT WAS FILLED WITH HAPPINESS AND LOVE
THAT WAS TRUE AND NEVER CAUSE HEARTBREAK
IT WOULD FILL OUR SOULS AND HEARTS WITH ETERNAL SMILE
IN A LAND AND LIFE WHERE
WE WOULD CARE DEEPLY FOR EACH OTHER ALL THE WHILE
YET WHO WERE WE TO THINK SUCH A LOVE WOULD LAST
AND LIKE A RISING SUN BEGIN TO SET AS FAST
BENEATH THE HORIZON OF A LOVE THAT COULD NEVER BE
JUST BEYOND THE VIEW OF A FAUX ETERNITY
-------------------------------------------------------------
ONCE THERE WAS A HOPE WE AWOKE TO EACH AND EVERY DAY
ONE IN WHICH WHAT WOULD NEVER BE BECAME REALITY IN EVERY WAY
AND BROUGHT A WONDEROUS SMILE TO EACH AND EVERY FACE
AS WELL WITH AN UNENDING DREAM COME TRUE
OF PEACE AND HAPPINESS FOR THE HUMAN RACE
BUT FROM THAT DREAM WE WOULD SOON AWAKE
FOR THERE ALWAYS IS A PRICE IN A WORLD OF GIVE AND TAKE
AND SOON LIKE A COLORFUL RAINBOW IN THE SKY
WHOSE COLORS SOON FADE THEN DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A WHY
EACH HOPE WOULD AGE AND SOON FADE AWAY
LEAVING ONLY MEMORIES OF THAT ONCE BRIGHT AND SHINING DAY
---------------------------------------------------------
ONCE THERE WAS A LIFE INTO WHICH WE ALL AWOKE
WITH AN INNOCENT BABY’S CRY AND SMILE BEFORE WE SPOKE
THE WORLD SEEMED SUCH A WARM AND LOVING PLACE
WHERE EVERYONE CARED SO MUCH FOR US WITH UNDYING GRACE
WHENEVER WE NEEDED THEM THERE THEY WOULD FOREVER BE
AND EVEN AS WE GREW INTO GRADUAL MATURITY
WE FELT SO CALM AND CONFIDENT
THERE WASN’T ANYTHING WE COULDN’T DO
WE HAD OUR YOUTH AND HOPEFULLNESS AND TO OURSELVES WERE TRUE
BUT THEN ONE DAY THE MIRROR APPEARED TO LIE
WHO WAS THAT STRANGER THERE WITHOUT A TWINKLE IN THE EYE
WHERE WAS THE LOVE WE USED TO KNOW AND IT’S WARM EMBRACE
NOW ONLY EMPTINESS TEARING DOWN NOW UNFAMILAR FACE
FILLED WITH SORROW AND REGRET OF WHAT COULD NOW NEVER BE
HERE WITHIN FLEETING GLIMPSE OF FAUX ETERNITY

| | ADRIFT | | | | Saturday, November 1, 2008 (8:46 AM) | | | ADRIFT
BY JAMES A. GALGANO
IF TIME WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN
WOULD IT HAVE EVER WONDERED
AMIDST THE CLOUDS AND DREAMS THERE UNDER
WHERE NIGHTMARES CLING TO THE ENDLESS LIES
GRASPING AT EACH LAST BREADTH AS MEMORIES SCURRY BY
INTO AND OUT OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE NEVER BEEN OR WILL NEVER BE
IN HOPES OF FINDING SOME SORT OF RELIEF INESCAPABLY REMOTE
WHILE IN SILENT VERSE ONE WILL EMOTE THEIR ENDLESS DESPERATION
AS IF IN PRAYER TO RECEIVE UNKNOWN RESPIRATION
WHERE EACH INHALED BREATH DEPARTS WITHOUT REPLY
OR ANSWERS TO UNDEFINED QUESTIONS SEEKING MORE THAN WHY
OR WHEREFORE SO HERE WE ARE LOST AND THEREFORE
CAPTIVE TO SOME UNREACHABLE STAR UNDISCOVERED
NO MATTER HOW NEAR OR FAR IN INDESCRIBABLE RELIEF
WHERE MEMORIES WAVER IN AGE AND DISBELIEF
AS I PERHAPS IN EACH ENDLESS QUESTION ANSWERS RESIDE
TO COMFORT EACH MOMENT WHILE IT SOMEWAY DERIDES
WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN OR STILL MIGHT BE
ADRIFT WITHIN THE LIES OF DEVOTIONAL PROFANITY
EMBEDDED IN THE GLIMPSES OF DISTANT DREAM UNTRUE
WHERE OUR SLEEPLESS HOURS SEEM TO FOREVER DWELL
WITHIN THAT ENTANGLED WEB AND ENDURING VOW HOPES WAVER
LIKE AN UNFAMILAR FLAG OF AN ILLDEFINED NATION
WE NEVER KNEW EXCEPT FOR THE FADED PHOTOGRAPHS IMBUED
WITH THOSE VAINGLORIOUS VISIONS OF DISTANT DREAM ASKEW
AS IF EACH INFALLIBLE PERCEPTION HAD MORE THAN A CLUE
TO STATE WHO WAS WHERE WITH WHAT AT ANY RATE DUE
YET THESE ARE BUT GAMES TO THOSE AIMLESS REPLIES
BENEATH THE UNCOVERED STONES WHERE OUR MEMORIES LIE
IN SEARCH OF ANSWERS NEVER NEAR DESPITE IMMEDIATE PROXIMITY
OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN YET IN FACT WILL NEVER BE
ONE DISTANT DAY WHERE THE SHADOWS OF OUR DESIRES DISMAY
WITHIN THE TWINKLING OF INNER BLOOD SHOT EYE IN NEED OF SLEEP
WHILE STRAINING TO REMAIN AWAKE WHERE EACH SOUL SINKS DEEP
INTO TOMORROWS ETERNAL BEND AND IF I HAD KNOWN WHY PRETEND
EXCEPT FOR THE CHANCE TO WANDER AMIDST THE CLOUDS WHEREUNDER THOSE ENDLESS DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES STILL SING
AS IF FOREVER LOST WITHIN THE CALUMNY OF CAVERNOUS SPRING
WITH HOPE ADRIFT CLINGING TO ETERNAL FOREVER IN DUBIOUS DOUBT
IN HOPE THERE COULD BE FOUND AN ANSWER UPON WHICH TO SHOUT
INTO AND OUT OF WHAT ONE WOULD WISH FOR BUT MAY NEVER BE
UPON THAT RECEDING SHORELINE WHERE TOMORROW IS UNDERTOW
THOUGHTS SHALL BE INEVITABLY RESIGNED LOST IN SPACE AND TIME
TO WHAT THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW BUT MAY NEVER KNOW OR SEE

By james a. galgano (10/17/08)
Within a matter seconds although it did seem
A life time appeared to vanish along with a dream
That somewhere became lost in the void of routine
It’s as almost as if one turned around
With something more than I love you to say
That when the words finally made there way out
There was no one to reply it’s alright don’t dismay
A feeling of alone crept up to slap you in the face
To wonder aimlessly aloud how did I come to this place
Overlooking tomorrow’s darkened abyss
Longing for a warm comforting embrace
That had once conjured a paradise of bliss
Instead of a now lingering bitter after taste of remiss
Who would have thought that within in the thick
Of battles hard fought but rarely won
An onus had arose to which one so easily succumbed
To a mere trick played upon the blinking of an eye
Where all had been lost to the moment while wondering why
Perhaps if there was a chance wishes really came true
We would still be standing close together in embrace
As we would so often do, but without you here
That seems such a long time ago much too long to remember
Where time now often finds life on the precipice of December
Awaiting with melancholy what will now never be
But the mere waiting alone prefacing songs of solemnity
That echo still within your curative angelic laughter
Which so remind me why I fell in love with your life everafter
Where time caused me to fortunately stumble in awe
into your endearing web of endearing romantic guffaw
like a verb past imperfect I cling to the heaven I never saw
yet here remain like an exposed nerve in pain all the more
dangling like an orphan participle in search of a rhyme
to bring me back into your loving arms in some other time

I OFTEN WONDER WHERE THIS ROAD MIGHT HAVE LED
HAD I NOT BEEN BLIND OR DESIGNATED INFIRM
WOULD THESE HANDS REACHED FOR MORE THEN THIN AIR
FILLED WITH NOTHING MORE THEN UNKEPT PROMISE
AND WHO AM I WITHIN THESE ENCLOSING WALLS
TO CONFINE YOU TO MY RESTRICTIVE MORALITY
THAT PRAYS FOTR NO MORE THAN PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING
UPON A MEDICAL REPORT DEMANDING DELETERIOUS MEDICATION
WHICH PULLS ME FARTHER AWAY FROM THIS DISTANT LANDING
WHERE NO BOATS ARRIVE AND NO FUTURE DEPARTS
EXCEPT UPON THE SAILS OF CLIMACTICALLY COLD BEATING HEARTS
WHICH AWAIT FOREVER VALENTINES SPEAR AS WANTING IS LEFT WAITING
ON AN INCLINE OF FEAR WHERE YOU FIND TOMORROW'S IMPATIENCE
FOR SOMETHING MORE THAN A CURE NEVER FORTHCOMING
NOR CLEARLY IN SIGHT AS DAY TURNS TO MORROW
AND WITHOUT BEING POLITE AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE
ONCE UPON A TIME WHEN MY YOUTH SET ME FREE
NOW THERE AWAITS A FREEDOM LESS SECURE
BUT THE PROMISE OF DARKNESS EVERAFTER BEYOND
SOME DAY SOON'S SPLINTERY UNAVOIDABLY AJAR DOOR

| | Eye of the storm | | | | Saturday, September 6, 2008 (3:04 PM) | | | Eye of the storm
By james a. galgano
There is a political hurricane of lust and langor brewing within our humble midst
Spreading its nefarious dust of heated rhetoric over land and inclement sea
Undermining our rights with an uncontrollable desire for power in blustery bliss
In the name of liberty they plague upon our differences fomenting lies and fear
Using the media like weather vane to redirect their destructive storm clouds from above
To pull us apart by fabricating distrust of each other in the name of lock step unity
Using the language of common folk to ferment their elitist idolatry to foment disgust
Of each other based upon the widening gaps between class and growing diversity
While preaching the gospel of founders we flounder upon the waves of such infamy
They profess family values while their own lineage is rife with their despotic wrath
Underlined by their own adultery, slave holding, abuse of power, corruption and graft
We find ourselves alone together plummeting toward a rocky reef of moral decline
Preoccupied by our own striving for familial survival to notice what they undermine
And obfuscate in their quest to preserve their rule upon our sweat, which they forever berate
As if it were a weakness over which they must oversee as we toil upon their plantation of procilivity
they profess to understand or empathize while they pull a caustic curtain of turmoil over our eyes
hoping we will never be able to realize the joke played upon us all in their name of liberty
so here within this bloodshot eye of a hurricane of their power and lust we find ourselves victim
in woeful resignation hoodwinked by their rhetoric of oblivious disgust and biblical reaffirmation
upon which their storm clouds spring casting our distracted eyes upon a subtle plot of their making
to promote their status quo upon our shadowed cemetery of endless sacrifice their empire clings
where in crystal comfort they incessantly wring a calculated clarion call to arms against all
who stand within their path and if successful in the cause will reap reward in the aftermath
so what will we do remains to be seen as the storm clouds gather while we endeavor to survive
caught within the whirlpool of their hurricane’s bloodshot eye often unable to clearly see
that the flag they wave over our heads in the name of freedom will subjugate us to wage slavery
and endless abnegation as the torrents of their infamy draws forever into medusa's web of deceit
that if successful will have the effect of procuring their aims of putting us all into hypnotic sleep
never to dream again nor ever awake from a nightmare of our own unfortunate mistaking
the parables of lies of liberty for the endless web of indenture which now inevitably confines us
while casting shadows over our future never to again to remind us of what we once were or might be
yet invariably might become once more a victim in their hurricane path of calculated infamy
