| | 4000 Dead, So? | | | Tuesday, March 25, 2008 (11:19 AM) (I'm feeling enraged) | | Before anyone starts yelling at me, the subject of this blog - 4000 Dead, So? - that I took from a news sound bite that I heard on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. The sarcastic "So?" was what Dick Cheney said when asked recently what he thought about the strong disapproval of the majority of American people concerning the Iraq/ Afghanistan War. The arrogance of his smirking face makes me sick. He seemingly added yesterday (03/25) that we should remember that all those dead military members were volunteers, matter of fact, he said that word about 4 or 5 times in that one comment. Does that make anyone feel any better?? That they volunteered to serve and just had the misfortune to get killed? Last night, I watched Frontline...it was about bush's war and reminded everyone just how this all started. Regardless of your politics, the facts remain the facts...there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction (otherwise known now as 'weapons of mass delusion'), no ties between Saddam Hussien and Al Qaeda, no stores of chemical weapons, no possible way of threatening the United States and frankly no reason whatsoever for our occupation of Iraq other than to control the OIL. These are the facts, and have been the facts all along. It is so shameful that the so-called 'leader' of this country has lied, misled, and twisted the truth to the United States Congress, the American people and the rest of the world.
What is worse is that now that bush has lead this country into this war without end, he fully intends to stay there until he is removed from office. Yeah, I know he will be removed by an election, but it makes me feel better that at least he will no longer be in the White House. For Christ's sake, maybe it is time for a kind of test before letting a person become the President...an IQ test, a history test and a lie detector test would suffice. I don't think bush would have been sworn into office if any of those factors had been applied. And while the brave men and women serving in our military are being blown up, wounded, mentally scarred for the rest of their lives, we are 'led' by the man (and I use that term loosely) who stood before an audience joking about looking all over the Oval Office for WMD's. Yeah, george, that was really funny. Maybe this would be a good time to cancel the Press Core Correspondent's Dinner, at least until the military members are no longer being used as political fodder by the GOP. While they try to scare the shit out of the voters, the fact remains that there is no military solution to Iraq war. And now we have an old fool trying to become the leader of this country. Of course, he can't seem to recall that Al Qaeda isn't training in Iran, and has to have a 'minder' to keep him from making any mortal errors. Does this mean that we should expect Sen. Lieberman to be at his side throughout the campaign? How many more 'senior moments' is this guy going to have? How about his assertions that he is fine with the military being in Iraq for another 100 years? How do you think the guys that are dodging bullets, IED's and RPG's feel about that timeline??
It makes me physically ill to envision the possibilities of 100 more years of 'Stay the Course'. On the other hand, maybe we'll get lucky and some crazed Republican conservative (ie, Hannity, Limbaugh listener) will go postal and eliminate the old geezer. Keep in mind, I think that would be terrible...I am all about peace, not endangering a single living soul (but am ever hopeful that God might take things into his own hands), unlike the Republican chicken hawks...always saying "Support the Troops" but you'll never see even one of them in uniform. Support the troops, yeah, that is what I think...support them by removing them from harm's way. How many more must die before the citizens demand the return from the hell that they are in??? | | | 136 Views | 2 Thumbs Up | 1 Comment | |
