 Project 999 - hell yeah
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 (2:15 PM)

Hell yeah. I'm pleased with how the new pain scheme came out. Instead of doing a full replica I kept it rather sober.
Time to hit the road again !
Maybe some Marlboro or Xerox stickers as finishing touch

What's wrong with the LV uploader?
Saturday, December 20, 2008 (10:35 AM)
(I'm feeling aggravated)
Ok this is getting annoying. If I read the uploading rules correctly we can upload vids of max 200Mb right?
Knowing this I render my vids to highest possible resolution to stay under 200Mb but today I always get a message saying: The operation timed out. When checking my LV page I see the vid is indeed uploaded but it is cut short. The vid is also less than 10 minutes long.

If you ask me there is a serious bug in the uploader unless I'm missing something or there's something wrong with the site since I uploaded 190Mb video's before.

Going to try a last time with a 150Mb rendered vid

 Paint job
Sunday, November 9, 2008 (1:46 PM)
So with winter, cold weather and short days it's time to do some more stuff on the bike.

Been thinking a lot about what paint scheme I'd use on the poly fairing. Well it came rather easy now with Bayliss winning the WSB championship :)
So that's how the bike will look soon. A friend of mine has all the equippement so he'll do the painting after I repaired,  sanded and ligned out the contours on the fairing.

I sure hope this and having to hand in my license for a couple weeks due to a speeding ticket will make winter a lot shorter.

Planning till the end of the season
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 (6:19 AM)
The bike is going to the garage for a belt change and valve adjustment because I've still got a lot of plans for this season. September is going to be filled with trips and trackdays so the bike needs to be in top condition.

Been a while since I had the chance to record more video's because in the meantime I'm working on another project of a friend of mine. A 2001 R1 trackbike.
Once it is completed I'll take it to the track and do some recording on it. I wonder if I can go fast with a 4cylinder bike on track. It's a completely different style and setup so we'll see how it goes.

Project 999 on Zolder race track
Monday, July 28, 2008 (2:18 PM)
After only 2 days of testing my semi-finished Project 999s I went to the racetrack of Zolder(Belgium) for some full throttle fun.

It was the first time on that track and it was a little wet during the first session under the overhanging trees in the back section but that couldn't bother me much since I had to get the hang of the ideal lines.
After that session I had most of the lines right so I could focus on braking points and exit speeds and went under the 2 min mark straight away despite many very very slow riders. It's damn scary when you come to a corner at 160mph when there's other people going less then half that speed.

At the end of the 2nd to last session disaster strikes. Some slower rider didn't see me pass at the end of the straight and slams into my side. Rather strange since I was to his left in a left corner. Normally you'd expect that rider to be looking to the left when turning into such corner but apparently he wasn't. In the corner of my eye I see him throw his bike to the left towards the line I took wich put him into an unavoidable collisioncoarse. Just after the apex of the corner he slams into the back right of my bike resulting in me performing a a+ summersault into the air @ approx. 75 mph. At this speed it does take rather long to come to a full stop even on rought concrete. lol

A marchal and me pushed the bike to the pit exit where I checked the damage to the bike. And lo and behold. Except for the clutch springs which were all gone, some skidmarks on the fairing and the clipon beeing scraped off the bike didn't sustain any more damage. I'll post some pictures of the bike one of those days. The bike is just so narrow it's almost impossible to hit any vital parts of the frame and engine.
The bike will be 100% fit again very soon ;)

I know one thing. That new leather suit I bought, wich you can see in the photo, did a hell of a job in terms of protection. Except from a soar right leg caused by the imact with the other bike followed by the impact on the concrete I didn't sustain any injury worth mentioning. I'm also positive the seperate back protector did it's job too.
Wear your riding gear folks

 Project 999s
Monday, July 21, 2008 (1:39 PM)
(I'm feeling happy)
The moment of truth for project 999s
Finally I can ride again after swapping the engine for a 999s-version. Of coarse it's raining right now so I can't test ride the bike with the new engine bah.

How about a picture?

Possibly this poly fairing will stay on the bike this season. When winter comes I'll start with a decent paint job. Still have to think about that one.

After checking every point on the start-checklist it was finally time to hit the start switch. Since I'm using the stock ECU of the former engine it wasn't too sure it would actually start due to possible errors in the anti-theft system.
When I switched on the egnition the dash immediatly showed it recognised the transponder in the key so it was ready to start.
First try the engine hesitated a bit but there was still some air in the fuel pump. 2nd start cycle it started immediatly yay! I'm a happy camper now!

Next weekend will be the big test of the engine. I have a trackday scheduled then. I'll try to get some video taken that day.

 Project 999 - the sequel
Sunday, July 6, 2008 (1:18 PM)
(I'm feeling dirty)
Project 999 phase 2
After the damage my engine sustained due to sand in the airbox I was kinda forced to take project 999 a step further as planned.
Result:

The engine is already installen now. Just have to wait for the extra parts I ordered to fully complete the project.
Spent a whole weekend working on the bike so I can test the new engine together with the powercommander 3, main exhaust pipe and ECU.
Still have to make an appointment with the dyno people to make a custom map for the PC.

I hope I'll be on the road again next week woohoo

New bulletcam and recorder came in
Monday, June 9, 2008 (10:49 AM)
Finally a decent setup. yay!

I'v ebeen watching and reading up on so many different setups, especially on the recorders ou there at this time. Most of those recorders have a huge disadvantage and that's size.
Since I wanted a setup that can be user on the track also I went for a bulletcam of coarse. The recorder was another story. Most of the recorders are so big you need to carry around a fanny pack or back pack and I didn't like that idea.
I saw Mordth13 once with a rather small recording device but couldn't find one of those in Europe. Then one day I came across this Minox DMP mediaplayer/recorder. Yeah that was what I was looking for.

The first test result was already a succes. I didn't buy the more expensive high def bulletcam because the size of the video's recorded is too big and overkill to throw on Livevideo so a 480 line bullet is more then enough.

Expect some pov vids soon
