 New Pretentious Look
Friday, March 7, 2008 (8:17 AM)
(I'm feeling discontent)
When the New Live Video was launched, I immediately redesigned my channel with the tools available. I thought it was allright, but it sort of bugged me. I was never really happy with it. Having just finished a bunch of work I thought I'd redesign a little bit. I'm feeling a bit reflective lately so  I guess the design uh... reflects that.

My chicken recipe seemed to work. Good thing I shot it. The battery threatened to give out on me, so I was paranoid about not finishing shooting it after having decided to go through with it. So I made pretty quick shots, trying to conserve the battery as much as possible. I finished cooking and shooting it, so it's great. It's another video that's looking like a bitch to edit so it might be a while.

I haven't done any straight vlogs in a while so I guess I'll do one very soon.

 Agh Work
Thursday, March 6, 2008 (8:02 PM)
(I'm feeling busy)
I shouldn't complain. Work is work and I'm always thankful when it comes my way. In spite of that, I am working on a new video... a new cooking video. I'm just inventing the dish actually. It's got something to do with chicken and I'm just winging it (Pardon the pun). If it turns out great, I'll do the video. But if it turns out awful, I'm not doing it. I'm shooting it at any rate.

 New Video
Sunday, February 24, 2008 (4:07 PM)
(I'm feeling exhausted)
I've got a new video up, depicting a recent trip I had out of town. I have to admit, the way I made it was inspired a little bit by Tree3's recent videos. I thought... I would LOVE to do a very well put together video like that. I used to do a lot of editing in my videos (as obvious with my very early ones), but I've grown used to the quick talking vlogs with minimal editing. I think both kind of videos have their place, and I just loved doing this new one the way I did. There's probably no way I can sustain that kind of thing on regular basis, so I'm sure I'll be back to posting some stupidly nutty thing before long.

Live Video doesn't seem so slow this time around, which is great, as I've got a lot of catching up to do.

 SLOwwwwww....
Monday, February 18, 2008 (6:52 PM)
(I'm feeling busy)
Apologies to everyone if I haven't gone around watching and commenting on videos and blogs. Live Video has been very slow for me the past week or so. I don't know if it's just me or this site. I seem to navigate other sites as quickly as I used to. But anyway... I'll be taking a break for a while as I'll be busy with my comics work. Hopefully, I can navigate the site more easily when I get back. So if anyone wants to add me as a friend or in a group or sends me a message or comments on my videos, it may take a while for me to respond.

Before I go, I will be uploading a new video... a cooking video! I've long wanted to do a How To Cook Filipino Style Spaghetti and I've finally done it! Editing it was a bitch, but it was all worth it in the end.

Me and Live Video and Why I Like Being Here
Monday, February 11, 2008 (6:31 PM)
(I'm feeling cheerful)
I thought I'd write about how I came to be here on Live Video and why I stayed. Like many You Tubers towards the end of 2006, we were frustrated and annoyed at all the problems the site was having. People pointed to Live Video as a good alternative, and a lot of people went there including me. As much as I liked the small community I have found on You Tube (and I still do), it's frustrating when you can't even talk to them because of commenting and messaging problems. If you can't communicate with other users of the site properly, how in the world can you even have community? You can't.

So I found myself setting up shop here on Live Video and almost immediately put up my first video "Hello Live Video" which is well, not public at the moment. But the thing that struck me immediately was how clear the video was. I was quite literally stunned.

The second thing that struck me I can not only post LONG comments on videos, but the message gets posted IMMEDIATELY. I thought that was amazing. That's an indication of how deprived were were at You Tube, when you are amazed that something actually works they way its supposed to.

Within a few months, You Tube seems to have fixed its problems, and a lot of former You Tubers went back and left their Live Video profiles gathering dust. But I stayed.

But to be quite honest, I've never really left You Tube as well. I'd like to think I keep a "dual" citizenship of being on both sites as I enjoy them for different reasons. I post videos on each site on a regular basis, some for You Tube only, some for Live Video only, and many appear on both sites.

The reason I couldn't leave Live Video completely was for all the people I met there who are not here. You Tube definitely is a gigantic site, but I think one can enjoy their stay there if they manage to find a small community that they can interact with well, like I have. Here on Live Video, it's a small village compared to You Tube, but in this village, everyone knows almost everybody. It's kind of cozy in a small town kind of way. And having been born and is still living in a small town, this kind of thing appeals to me a lot.

I've met many people here who have eventually became friends like Matt Hawes (TheHappyShow), Margaret Fabrizio (tree3), and a lot of other people. "Friends" is a word that seems to have lost its meaning in this online world where someone listed as a "friend" isn't really a friend but they're there just so you don't offend them. But there are definitely a few who I've met online who I do truly consider friends. Some are here, and some are on the other site.

"Community" for me doesn't mean a group of people who all get along. Like in any community, you don't agree with everybody. There may be someone you don't like, or someone who doesn't like you, but you can't help see them once in a while when you walk down the street.  Very much like Live Video.

But that's OK, you know. There are definitely people on Live Video that I'd rather not associate with for various reasons, but I accept them as members of the community. There is one specific member here who I have nothing against personally, but watching their videos make me very uncomfortable. I think there may be some friction if we every cross paths so we talked and as far as I understand it, we agreed just to stay clear of each other. And I think that's a great thing.

So yeah, for better or worse, I'm here on Live Video to stay. I think this is a terrific site.

 Puttering About New Live Video
Saturday, February 9, 2008 (5:37 PM)
(I'm feeling optimistic)
I just did a new logo for all my pages on the site. I like to keep things simple, like the one above. I'm an old man you see, and my eyes go cross eyed when things are a little too visually busy. Just a simple "The Komikero Video Channel" and I'm happy with that. I wouldn't want people scrolling endlessly down a page just so they can find the playing video.

I'm still trying things out, but even before the relaunch, there are things I probably won't be making use of, like the comments section on the profile. I appreciate all comments to me of course, but I'm a little puzzled why people would want to leave HUGE, GIGANTIC photos of skimpily clad girls and other things on my comments. I think it's a little extreme. Not that I have anything against pictures like that. I think they have their place, just not on my profile, I think. People can always send me private messages if they want.

First impressions, Live Video has become one of those networking sites like Facebook, MySpace of Friendster, but thankfully, with empahsis still on videos. I'm on MySpace and Multiply and that's it. I've left places like Flixter, Friendster, Facebook, etc., because it was just too much to keep track of.

 Trying Things Out...
Saturday, February 9, 2008 (4:21 AM)
(I'm feeling determined)
Okay, tried TWICE to upload a new video, but it's been unsuccessful both times. No sweat really. It's simply Live Video working out the kinks, I'm sure. Sent a bug report like I should and went ahead to try uploading a third time. But this time, I'm using Live Video Xpress just to see what kind of luck I'm going to have with that.

Unfortunately, I'll probably be one of those guys who won't be making use of Live TV because I don't have a webcam. I'm strictly a digicam guy. Besides, I suck live, I'm sure. But I think I'm going to be making use of this text blog thing a lot because I do love to write. I keep several blogs of my own, specially my main one, which is all about my work, the state of the comics industry with a few personal stuff thrown in. I also keep a blog where I talk about the videos I do. But on this blog, I'll talk specifically about stuff I do here on Live Video. I also have stuff on Multiply but only because a lot of my offline friends are there.

 At Last, eh?
Friday, February 8, 2008 (10:55 PM)
(I'm feeling ecstatic)
At last the LOOOOOONG wait for the Live Video relaunch is over! Everything's NEW! Yeah! I'll commemorate by doing a new video! It'll be a while until I completely go over the new features and edit my profile. Expect nothing fancy on my page as I want to keep it as simple and easy to navigate as possible.
