| | People just don't care! | | | Monday, April 14, 2008 (5:28 AM) (I'm feeling lethargic) | | I got up around 7:30am this morning. Not because I really wanted to, but someone was making pounding noises. It sounded like it was coming from downstairs at first. As far as I know there is storage space below us, so I have no idea why people would be making noise enough to wae someone up at that hour in the morning. They were making the same noise down there around 8pm last night! It's really annoying, but it would be worse if I had a baby or younger child who slept at that time. No one seemed to even consider that possibility! This is what bugs me most about things like this. No one has the common sense to schedule noisey things for "normal" hours! That area of the building is under this condo, and the only way anyone would have to pass it is if they were coming from this building and going to the pool, gym, movie theatre etc. All of these things are open from 5am to 11pm, so it's not that they had to schedule around these times. Also, more people use these things either early in the morning or later in the day, so why wouldn't they wait until the afternoon when most people are at work to do these things? Of course, now that they woke me up, the noise has stopped!
Julian is suppose to come back on tuesday, and I know I'll feel better then. I really should mop the kitchen floor today, because I spilled chicken noodle soup on it yesterday. I also managed to burn my foot and possibly by leg. I realized I spilled some, but I didn't realize it had gotten my sock wet until later, so it had plenty of time to soak into my sock and burn the top of my foot.
I also managed to fall out of my wheelchair and halfway outside later in the day when I was letting Keisha out. I dropped her leash and tried to grab it, but fell forward. She did stop and look at me though, which gave me a chance to pick up her leash because I pulled myself up off of the floor again. I had a big dent in my leg from the metal of the door frame, but I think it's better now.
I guess I'm just extra cranky today after having a day like that! Hopefully tomorrow, things will be a lot better once Julian gets here!

| | What's happening to me? | | | Thursday, April 10, 2008 (9:40 PM) (I'm feeling drained) | | I'm not sure what's happening to me lately. I've had a stuffy/runny nose for almost two weeks now. I thought I was getting a cold. but I didn't get sick. I've also been completely exhausted for the past few weeks. I'm not talking about feeling like I need a nap, but more like I've been up for weeks, while working 24/7! I'll go to bed because if I try to stay awake I can't even function, have 12 hours sleep, wake up and feel like I could go back to sleep for another 12 hours! Even after being awake for a few minutes I feel totally drained.
I did manage to cook a huge bowl of food for Sophie and Keisha today, and do some laundry. I started making home made food for them awhile back because a bag of "high quality" dog food made Sophie sick. I decided that I'm not going to gamble with my guide dog's life every time I feed her! Since I started feeding them home made meals, her coat is shiney and she just seems so much healthier! I had to take a break while doing laundry, and forced myself to stay awake long enough to finish cooking the vegetables. I'll cook the chicken tomorrow. I even called my mom and talked for an hour to try to stay awake until it was done!
I've also been having major mood swings! Believe me, you do not want to mess with me these past few weeks! One minute I'm happy and relaxed, and the next I feel like punching something, or crying my eyes out for no reason. A few minutes after that, I'm fine again. The fact that I always feel hot doesn't help any. I thought I was getting sick for sure awhile ago because I started to feel hot. Not feverish, but just hotter than normal. I'm usually wearing a sweatshirt when everyone around me are wearing t-shirts, but I feel like I've been sitting in a hot tub for weeks. I've had the bedroom window open for about three days now and the balcony door open for two days. I also turned all fo the heat off.
The past couple of days I have also felt a bit sick right after I wake up, but it's probably because I haven't been eating right and because I'm so warm. Anyway, I guess I should go check the laundry soon to see if the towels are dry. The stupid washing machine doesn't seem to want to spin all of the water out of the clothes the last couple of loads I did. It sucks because it's not mine, but the washer and dryer that was here when we moved in. I have a brand new washer and dryer here, but they are not hooked up. There's not enough room. It would be so nice to if I could use them again. They are front loading and I can fit so much in them compaired to the tiny one that's here.

| | I miss him so much! | | | Saturday, April 5, 2008 (6:23 PM) (I'm feeling hot) | | I'm watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It's on tv and I really like the Harry Potter movies and books, so I thought I'd watch it again. I'm really hot tonight. I don't have a fever or anything, but I swear I'm like over heating here!
Tonight is going a lot better than last night did! I ended up sleeping most of the day though, because by the time I finally got back to bed last night, Julian called and I didn't get to sleep until almost 5am. Then he called again around 9:30am. I did get to sleep later, and slept until after 7pm! This day is so messed up! Now I'm going to be awake all night! Oh well. On the other hand, I still feel tired enough to go back to sleep. Weird.
Hopefully, with any luck Julian will be back in about a week! I can't wait. I miss him so much! Talking to him all the time on the phone, just isn't the same as having him here3 in person.

| | So sleepy.... | | | Thursday, April 3, 2008 (5:34 PM) (I'm feeling sleepy) | | I don't know what's been going on with me lately, but I've been so tired. I can sleep 10 or 12 hours, wake up and within an hour I'm so tired I could go back to bed! I do have bursts of energy, but most of the day is spent trying to stay awake enough to concentrate on work. I feel like hibernating for a week!
It's only 8:30pm, and I'm trying my best to stay awake for at least another half hour. I guess by the time I feed Sophie and Keisha it will be about 9pm anyway. I have a lot of work to get done tomorrow, so I hope I get enough sleep tonight. Anyway, I'm going to go feed Sophie and Keisha and finish watching CSI before bed.

| | Just in time for Spring! | | | Wednesday, April 2, 2008 (4:48 PM) (I'm feeling accomplished) | | I've always been really bad at letting things pile up. I usually need to take most of a day to get a room really clean because I put things off too much. If I know someone is conming to visit I always go into a mad cleaning mode trying to wipe off the countertops, dust and put away the things I've left laying around. It's not dirty here, but it can get pretty untidy at times.
It's really been bothering me lately. It seems like I clean something up, and turn around and it's messy again. I do have a ton of work to get done, but I always end up cleaning up instead. Partly because I'd rather clean than do some of the harder work, but also because I can work a lot better when everything is tidy around me. I just feel so much better then.
I was sitting here earlier, thinking about the mountain of work I have to do this week, and how much cleaning I did today. It probably had something to do with watching too many eppisodes of How Clean Is Your House, but I just felt like I had to do something about the whole situation!
I decided to make a schedule. I sat down (lol I'm always sitting down!), and filled in a calendar for the whole month. I broke things down into things that have to be done every day, things that have to be done every seond day, third day, and things to be done once a week. I also left weekends almost completely free (besides cleaning Keisha's crate out every day and taking the garbage out when the time comes). Each day, if I stick to the schedule I will only have to spend 20 to 30 minutes to do everything! Providing I keep things clean as I go. I thought this was pretty good! I can work in a nice tidy condo, and have plenty of time for work and relaxing without having to go into the intense cleaning modes anymore!
Today I had to tidy the bedroom, sweep and mop the floors and clean Keisha's crate. It took me about 10 minutes to do everything except mop! Oh yeah, and I have to sweep the kitchen too. I'm going to have to put off the moping until I dplaundry though because both the pads for my mop are dirty. At least I think both are. Either that, or one of them is lost....

| | Spring cleaning | | | Sunday, March 30, 2008 (3:28 PM) (I'm feeling blank) | | I've decided to start spring cleaning. It's still 2°C (-3°C with wind chill), but spring is here, and with any luck it will start to warm up soon! Most of the snow is melted, and I've had the balcony door open quite a bit in the days lately. I just finished cleaning one of the bathrooms. Well, most of it anyway. I couldn't reach the top of the mirror, and we have really deep soaker tubs, so I'm leaving that for Julian to clean when he gets home. He has to give Sophie a bath anyway, so he can just clean it out after that. It's basically his bathroom anyway because I have my bath bench in the one off the master bedroom. I even moped the floor and put a Bounce sheet in the trash can for him! LOL, I'm just nice like that I guess! I also left him a shower curtain to put up, because right now we just have a clear one up in there.
I'm watching Die Hard: With a Vengeance. I missed some of it, but found it when I was looking for something good to watch eariler. I like the Die Hard movies. I just realized I have the Family Guy: Blue Harvest DVD here and I haven't even opened it yet. I think I'll wait until Julian gets back and watch it with him. I might as well. We bought it almost a month ago and haven't watched it yet!
I'm thinking if I take a couple of days to do each room I'll have it done before Julian gets back. Then he can do the things I can't reach when he gets back. It would really help if we had a storage locker here. Right now the washer is in my office. It's still packed from the move, and just taking up a huge amount of space. We could also put the dryer and my spare wheelchair in storage, and clean out the closet in Julian's office. Oh, and the closet doors we had to take off to put the dryer in the hallway closet could go there as well. Or of course, we could put them back on!
That would clear out he hallway closet so I could store the vaccum cleaner, brooms and mop in there. The more I think about it, I'm realizing how much that would help.

| | Sophie's leg is better! | | | Wednesday, March 26, 2008 (5:12 PM) (I'm feeling relaxed) | | Sophie's leg is doing better today! I'm really happy about that! She's not limping anymore, but her hip is making clicking sounds. I'l have to mention this to the vet the next time we go.
I still didn't go to the store, but might later when there's not so many people there. It's open 24 hours, and it's really small so even when there are only a small number of peopl there, there's no room to move around. I also can't fit through the shelves to get to the checkout because of all of the flowers they have sitting on the floor, so I have to go around to the beginning of the line and through the people that are coming out of the store when it's my turn to pay.
I've noticed something odd lately. We've been living here since July and it seems like we've replaced the same lightbulbs over and over when someof the ones that have been here since before we moved in are still not burnt out. I wouldn't even have noticed this, but the ones that burn out are turned on the same amount of time as the other ones. There is track lighting inthe kitchen and the same bulb burns out all the time. One has been here since before we moved in, and one of the other ones burned out awhile ago. Also, there are two lights in the hallway. They turn on with the same switch, but the one closest to the washer and dryer has burned out twice now, while the other one is still fine. I just thought this was odd.

| | Sophie's leg and my cushion repair | | | Tuesday, March 25, 2008 (3:06 PM) (I'm feeling worried) | | It's raining/snowing outside now. I'm not entirely sure which. One minute it's rain, the next it's snow. I was planning on going to the store that's a few minutes away from here to get a couple of things I needed, but Sophie started limping this morning. One of her front shoulders is bothering her. It happened about four months ago and she was limping for about three days and then she was better. I'm hoping it's the same thing, and she is doing better by tomorrow. She slept in the chair and on the couch for most of the day, but moved down to the floor on the blanket I had there while I was fixing my cushion awhile ago. She seems to be doing a bit better than she was now. Hopefully she's getting better!
I did finally get my cushion patched. I sat down on the floor earlier and filled it with a lot of extra air and waited. Nothing seemed to happen for a long time, so I sat on it and leaned on the different sections until one of the four sections started loosing air. I finally managed to find the hole. It was right next to the first one I had! Odd how they were so close. I hope the patches stay on for a long time!
I made a video about these things earlier, but my computer don't seem to want to let me get it from my video camera. It's really tempermental liek that sometimes, so I thought I'd write a blog instead.
Anyway, I just made a mug of hot chocolate and I'm going to go drink it and find something good to watch on tv. I hope Sophie gets better soon!

| | I'm so tired.... | | | Thursday, March 20, 2008 (4:08 PM) (I'm feeling sleepy) | | I'm so tired. I've been up since 1:30am and it's 6:55pm now. I just got off the phone with my boyfriend awhile ago, and I'm seriously considering going to bed really soon. I know I'll wake up early, but I'll be up around 6am or 7am anyway.
I got a lot done today. I did three loads of laundry, vaccumed the living room floor and steam cleaned most of the living room carpet. I'll do the rest tomorrow. Carpet sucks when you have a puppy running around! If I can help it at all, we won't have carpet the next time we move!
It's really windy here today. It's -1°c now (-10°c with wind chill) and it's suppose to be -10°c (-19°c with wind chill) tonight. Where is spring?! At least we don't have any snow left I guess! I like sweatshirt weather best. It's not too hot and not too cold. I can't sweat below my shoulders, so when I get hot I get really hot and can't cool down. I also can't shiver to keep warm. It's a quad thing.
Sophie and Keisha are both sleeping, and I think I think I'm going to go join them. I'll probably do another video tomorrow when I'm not so tired.

| | So much for working in my office today | | | Wednesday, March 19, 2008 (11:00 PM) (I'm feeling aggravated) | | In my last entry I wrote about moving into my office to work. Well, it didn't go too well! That's putting it very mildly. I had everything cleared out of there and was ready to start work before 8am. I turned the radio on and started working. Things were going great. I was a bit tired, but I was getting things done and thinking about how productive I am when I work in there. Then all of a sudden when I was on the phone I started hearing pounding noises. It sounded like it was coming from the elevator, which is on the other side of hte wall that my desk is against. I was slightly worried about this before moving in, but you can't hear the elevator going by at all. Just before the call ended the pounding noises turned into drilling noises!
I've heard this noise plenty of times since I moved in here, and I knew it wasn't just going to happen for a few minutes. I'm not entirely sure what the noise is, but I know it tends tolast most of the working day. Great! Just what I needed! I continued to do some of the things that needed to be done immediately, and then gave up and moved out into the living room where it wasn't as noisey.
I use a screen reading program on my computer to be able to use it. The program reads the things I want it to rad out loud so I can hear them. Trying to hear my computer over the drilling is not easy, and I just end up with a headache from concentrating on it so much. So, I guess I will just have to work over the Easter weekend. I should say work harder over the Easter weekend, because I was already planning on working through it anyway.
