 "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)" - Jay-Z
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 (9:27 PM)
(I'm feeling chipper)

Jay-Z "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)" isn't really an anti-Autotune schpiel so much as it is, or tries to be, a repudiation of all of the new flashy, gimmicky things about hip-hop like Autotune and Soulja Boy ringtones, as well as a re-establishment of himself as the standard-bearer in legit hip-hop. As far as the former goes, Hov is about fifteen years too late, but pushing that whole "best rapper alive" thing is made a little more difficult when Jay-Z's forced to do it over this stale beat. You know what could spice this up a little? Some of those newfangled, bright electronics that Hip-Hop/R&B artists have been using lately, like Aut--. Nevermind.

D.O.A. was produced by No I.D. and appears on Blueprint 3, set for release on September 11.

Lil Wayne - Rebirth -- "Hot Revolver"
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 (9:06 PM)
(I'm feeling chipper)
1st it was "Prom Queen" and now its "Hot Revolver" the second single off Lil Wayne's seventh album Rebirth. Despite the rumors of Rebirth being shelved, the single debuted on iTunes March 17, 2009, while it peaked at #7 on the iTunes Top 10. It debuted at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Canada it debuted at #54 on the Canadian Hot 100 the same week.

The song references Green Day's "Basket Case" with the line "Do you have the time to listen to me whine?" An extended version of the song was leaked onto the internet on March, 26th, 2009. The songs features a new verse from Wayne in which he sings.

Despite speculation that the song featured Cash Money artist Kevin Rudolf, it was confirmed that it is actually Dre of producing duo Cool & Dre who is the featured artist on Hot Revolver, although he is uncredited for his work on the chorus of the song
.

Rebirth is due out on August 18, but that is roughly the 47th release date it has had, so don't be surprised if it doesn't come out until 2019
