 Olympic Team

(I'm feeling excited)
Big day today, but for different reasons than I had originally thought. Tonight I will start in right field for Pacific Coast League All Star team, but that is not the news of the day. I've been named to the 2008 Olympic baseball team. For a minor league baseball player this is the best news short of call-up to the big leagues. In fact, the more I think about it, the Olympics is such a unique event,  on the excitement level, it might trump everything. Well except the lottery or a multi-year big league deal. Let's face it...money still talks. For those of you that don't know me, I'm a 30 year old journeyman minor league baseball player. I do have experience with the Cardinals ('05-'06) and quick cup of coffee with the Marlins ('07).  My trophy collection is more impressive than my back account, as I have a World Series ring from the '06 Cardinals. Which brings me to an interesting thought...if we pull off a medal in Beijing that could put me in an elite group. A medal and a ring. Truth is, us Americans are the underdogs in baseball. Japan, Korea and Cuba all send the best professionals they have. The USA sends scrappy minor leaguers like myself. It's such a short event and I know our team will be loaded with future big league all-stars, so don't count us out.  More updates to come. Join me on one of my upcoming liveshows
