| | Is there a supreme being? | | | Tuesday, February 12, 2008 (7:41 PM) (I'm feeling calm) | | That is a question that I have pondered for a long time and continue to investigated from all angles. Religion is one of those theories that can go either way because it has yet to be proven either way true or false. Every once in a while I will read something or have some kind of expierence that is consistant with the deity theory.
2/11/2008 was an interesting day. I had a long talk with an associate of mine named Peter who is a minister, and his wife Brenda at Ecopoliton Restaurant here in Minneapolis.
Peter said that science supports the bible. and He pointed to several scriptures in the bible that to him are very scientific in nature. One in particular I found interesting is one where God is supposedly saying that the universe will implode on itself and reform into a brand new universe where everything is perfect. There is scientific theory that the universe will someday implode on itself.
Later the same day I was on a bus and over head this young girl talking to a friend of hers about her brother being murdered. According to her it had something to do with his ex girlfriend. He was guned down. 4 bullets to the back of the head. He was murdered in Summer of 2005. She said she had prayed and prayed for a long time for something bad to happen to the perpatrator. 666 is a significant number in Christianity. It's supposedley the number of the beast that is supposed to be the enemy of God. The girl said that the guy who murdered her brother got guned down himself on 6/6/2006. Or 6/6/06. So the guy who murdered her brother gets murdered on the sixth month, the sixth day, of the sixth year of this century.
I asked the girl if she thought it was something divine. Her reply was "I don't know could be that karma caught up to him."
Is this something divine? Or is this just a qoincendance? It's definately on of those things that makes you wonder. | | | 73 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | Wild experience at an irish pub. | | | Tuesday, February 12, 2008 (7:20 PM) (I'm feeling blank) | | This evening I was at an irish pub here in Minneapolis with a friend. She is an artist. We were there for a function for litterary artists. My friend is in a transition state right as she is struggling financially. When she asked the server for a glass of water an interesting thing happened. The server came back with two glasses of water. One for me eventhough I did not request one. She slamed the glasses of water down. She bought my friend a dirty glass. What was ironic was she did not behave in that manner toward any of the other patrons in the establishment. My friend was under the impression that the server had that demenor toward her because she goes there every time they have these functions and she never orders anything. That may be the case. I noticed all of the other patrons there did order food and beverages.
This is a monthly function that is put on by Rake Magazine and the loft. It is a function for litterary artists. She and I are both litterary artists. I am a photo journalist. My friend writes a publication. Attendees of this function are not oblicated to buy anything.
Was the server taking it personal that my friend made a request and she's not getting any tips of it?
Was she just annoyed with my friend because she looks indigent? Hey some people are judgemental.
We'll never know.
One thing is for sure though that the server treated my friend differently than all of the other patrons in the establishment. and not in a pleasent way. Infact it was a rather unfriendly manner.
I will note here we are both people of color. My friend is darker than I. The incident did not seem to be racially motivated as often times these kinds of incidents are. This seemed to be based on snobery. The server was more polite to me. My friend look poor, I don't. Is there a corolation there? Possibly.
If this is the case, Is society becomming classist. Are we becomming the kind of society where if you come into an establishment to attend a function and don't look like you have money you may not be treated with respect? I have wittnesed a lot of incideents in the buildings downtown where Security treats the indigent that come into building with total disrespect.
It's interesting as the gap between the wealthy and the poor grows in this country that buildings are investing more money into security.
So what kind of society is America turning into? | | | 71 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments
