I just wanted to say a few words about my beloved hockey team,
the Detroit Red Wings. They had a great year filled with excitement
and the finals with the Pittsburgh Penquins was great from start
to finish. I'm very proud to be a Red Wing fan....Doc | | | 31 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments

| | The day the music died | | | Thursday, April 24, 2008 (2:16 PM) (I'm feeling devastated) | | I guess in terms of overall success you could rate me down pretty low with the coulda-beens. I have always thought that I should hold out for the best deal and that there would always be time to be a star. That of course, rarely comes to pass. There is always something coming up that will cause a change of plans from the intended path. I had a good life in Detroit. I played music in almost every bar and night spot in the town. I sold songs to music groups that I still receive money for on occasion. I had one song in the top twenty back in the seventies.....No big deal....But the things I had to fight through have made me what I am today. My ability to write and play music comes naturally. I have always had the gift. It was a great honor to be acknowleged in front of hundreds of people for the work I had done.
But I was never prepared for the things I would have to deal with in the 1980's. That part of my life was shaken and destroyed. My strength of mind and body was put to the test. I am a better person for it, but it has caused me to exist more as an individual, than as a leader of men. So the story starts....
I was living in southwest Florida. I had moved there the year of the bicentennial. My expertise in life besides music
was electronics. I was hired by a multi-millionaire to head up a security company that dealt with securing large housing developments and high rise condominiums. His name was Steven Benson. His grandfather owned one of the biggest tobacco companies in Pennsylvania. I was vice president of the company and it was my job to hire, train, deploy, sell, and coordinate all activities. I spent days working at luxury homes with yachts and fancy sport cars. Every day was a challenge and it left very little time for anything else. We were building a headquarters on a piece of property shared with the biggest and most recognized builder in the area. But that wasn't good enough for Steven Benson. He wanted everything right now. His interest in all the projects he commanded lasted only as long as his hands stayed clean. He would deliver parts to the jobs in a $150,000 dollar Lotus Turbo Espre. A chain smoking, Coke and coffee drinking guy who almost forgot to put his pants on in the morning. His father had recently died and Steven felt that the family money should be in his hands. Well, he made his move in that respect early one morning after his Mother Margeret had gone overseas with her adopted son (from her daughter Carolyn) to qualify for an upcoming tennis tournament. Scott was a good looking kid with a keen eye for tennis and a nose for cocaine. One of his favorite things was to inhale nitrous oxide out of the tank he had attached to his 280Z. Margaret had left several signed checks from her Dean Whitter account so Steven could pay the bills. And pay the bills he did.... In her absense, he spent over a half million dollars of her money for an estate, well before the fruits of his security company had ever had a chance to succeed. What happened next involves one of the largest and most notorious crimes in the history of Florida....................to be continued | | | 70 Views | 0 Thumbs Up | 0 Comments
