| | Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 1:43 AM | | Arsenal Ex-Number 8 Freddie Ljunberg has left Arsenal after 9 nines at the club. Ljunberg joined West Ham today for 3 Million Pounds and personally, The time was right he had played his best years of his career and 3 Mil can hopefully bring us Owen, Anelka or Huntalaar. His Arsenal debut should have told us what to expect. He came on for the final 11 minutes at Highbury against Manchester United in September 1998 and, in that time, not only scored but got himself booked. The “Legend of the No 8 lives more...on” wrote one fanzine afterwards. Remember this was a time when Ian Wright was the Arsenal benchmark rather than Thierry Henry.
He also had a career off the pitch, being a fashion model and up with all the latest trends as his black hair with red streak showed us in 2001. He was also a model for Calvin Klein, inparticualy the one of him in his CK jocks with his hands half pulling down his undies.
Ljungberg quickly became a favourite. He was tenacious, skilful and quick; a dynamo in the engine of the side. But his reputation gained real gravitas because of his ability to conjure up key goals. He scored in the FA Cup Finals of 2001 and 2002. He also grabbed crucial strikes in some massive European games at Highbury — Lazio and Juventus. The Swede had an uncanny knack to time his run between the full back and centre half. It was a useful tool, especially when you had someone with the perception of Dennis Bergkamp to play the ball through.
His finest moment was There are 11 minutes to go in the FA Cup Final of 2002 with Arsène Wenger’s side holding a precarious 1-0 lead. Ljungberg picks up the ball just inside his own half, darts between two Chelsea defenders, leaves John Terry sprawling and, after steadying his scampering legs, opens up his body to curl a sumptuous curling effort into the top of Carlo Cudicini’s net.
He also won the Premier League Player of the Season in 2001.
His first game was against Manchester United at Highbury with 11 minutes to play in the Premier League match of 1998, His final game wearing an Arsenal shirt was against Bolton in the FA Cup were he would score a goal.
Thank You Freddie for 9 years of Brilliance, Goals and Hairstyles. All the best at West Ham, And, We all love you Freddie 'caus you have red hair! As the Arsenal chant goes... less
| Monday, July 23, 2007 at 4:19 AM | | Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was impressed by Eduardo De Silva's 21 minutes for Arsenal in a pre-season game friendly a few days ago. Last August, Arsenal visited Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League Third Qualifying Round first leg. The visitors eventually ran out 3-0 winners but the first half was an even affair with Dinamo looking dangerous, mostly through Eduardo. "The first time I saw him against us I liked him,” said Wenger. “The first impression was very positive. “He showed in the first more...21 minutes on Thursday that he has the quality to play for Arsenal. I knew that before the game. But it is important that he can convince our fans and everybody who watches Arsenal that he has the quality.”
The signing of De Silva is a insight into how Wenger spot's a player, by seeing them play against his own team, Arsenal FC. "I dont like watching players too much, after watching a player for 20 minutes if seen enough" Arsene Wenger said.

| Friday, July 20, 2007 at 8:17 PM | | Arsenal Tv's Stewart Robson has said that Arsenal can thrive without ex-Captain Thierry Henry. Robson says that Henry's move to Barcelona can rejuvinate Arsenal's young sqaud and help them grow as a whole team. "I Think it's the next step forward for the team" Robson said to the club's official website. "If you have watched Arsenal play in the last two years, Henry was not the player he was three or so years ago" He added. "I think we're losing the Henry from last season. He's still an excellent more...player but in my opinion he's been on a gradual decline for the last two years and I think Arsenal will move on to the next stage now."
Henry's departure to the Nou Camp has brought in Eduardo from Croatian power house Dinamo Zagreb for what is believed to be a deal worth 12.5 MIllion Euro's. "He's going to be a great finisher, He is quick hes good with his back to play and his goals to game ratio is great for club and country" Robson said to Arsenal.com
"Arsenal have also got Adebayor, so if they get into crossing areas he can get on the end of things. They've got Robin van Persie who can play on the left-hand side and can join in from there. He can make forward runs or play with his back to goal. There are plenty of options for Wenger."
Eduardo came on in the last 21 Minutes in the 3-0 win over Genclerbirligi in a Pre-Season Friendly.
Arsenal's next match is against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesaday, Salzburg is nicely named after Energy Drink Red Bull. less
| Friday, July 20, 2007 at 4:12 AM | | As Highbury gets knoked down for luxury apartments, So too is the birthplace of Arsenal FC. The Royal Oak or "The Pullman" was recently demolished as part as a upgrade to the Arsenal Train-Station. On Christmas Day in 1886, a saturday that year, 15 Members of Dial Sqaure FC as Arsenal was known then met at the Royal Oak, to discss the name of the team. "Rather timidly, I asked: 'Who outside Woolwich ever heard of Dial Square?' Followed by: 'Who has not heard of the Royal Arsenal?' The name was adopted more...forthwith, and was later officially confirmed at a meeting at the Royal Oak. Mr. RB Thompson was just 18 years of age when he made that decision.
Unfortanately for The Pullman London's transport system is undergoing huge developments and the Pullman has to make way for the new station on Docklands Light Railway Station.
Sadly Another peice of Arsenal has gone the Birthplace of Arsenal has gone, But defintly won't be forgotten in every Gooner. It seems that a lot of Era's are ending at Arsenal recently... less
