One of the great joys of entertainment is being inspired by true talent. In turn, talent is especially moving and enduring when it's natural. In a time when musical artists and audiences are connecting at an earlier age, Alecia Elliott offers a gift that goes way beyond a talented teen with a big voice.
Born in the musical town and tradition of Muscle Shoals, Alabama on Christmas bay 1982, this sixteen-year-old showed her love for singing almost immediately. By the time she turned eight, Alecia knew more...that she was destined to be an entertainer.
At age nine, Alecia got the chance of a lifetime, when Lorrie Morgan heard a tape of Alecia and invited her to perform a concert duet. By the time she was eleven, standing ovations at Buddy Killen's Stockyard were the norm for Alecia. Her outstanding performances were rewarded by an invitation to sing at the 1995 Grand Ole Opry Inaugural Concert for Governor Don Sundquist.
Alecia has toured Europe, sung beneath the National Christmas Tree on the White House Lawn ana performed at a variety of music festivals and concert venues across America. She has taken the stage with a list of artists that include: Pam Tillis, Brenda Lee, Loretta Lynn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lan White, Shenandoah, Collin Raye, Joe Biffie ,Wade Hayes and Bebe & Cece Winans.
It didn't take long for Alecia to make her way to Nashville to meet with MCA Chairman Bruce Hinton. At the time, Bruce agreed that 12-year-old Alecia showed great talent, but that she needed a little more life experience before making a career in the music business. He told Alecia to come back in a few years, hoping some other label would not snatch her up and take advantage of her youth. But surprisingly, Alecia held out for MCA and showed up on the label's doorstep three years later as requested. MCA immediately signed her to a deal and began work on her first album.
Produced by Tony Brown and Jeff Teague, Alecia's debut album was recorded in Nashville at the Sound Emporium and less |
