 My findings on the LiveVideo-Community
Monday, November 16, 2009 (2:01 PM)
(I'm feeling satisfied)
It might interest some people, that I came to this website, to do research on the behaviour of people on the internet.

This was not the only site that I investigated, but I have to say that it was the most intrigueing of them all.

I have seen a lot while serving the world wide web, but what I encountered here on LiveVideo baffled my mind for quite some time.

I've witnessed some great and genuine people, but also many people with double agenda's.

I didn't interact with many, but that wasn't the point of my research anyway.

My findings will be written down in my essay that will hopefully get me my leaving certificate.

I am a psychology-student and psychology is what I encountered.

A lot of the issues going on here are childish interactions of, supposedly, adults.

Also a lot of bullying went on.

And all that, for what?

That was, for a long time, the ONE thing, I couldn't understand, and maybe, I still can't.

Some might do it to gain popularity, others do it for reasons that are more obscure.

In my studies before I came to this site, I have learned that a lot if issues can be prevented, by simply LISTENING to what the others actually are wanting you to HEAR.

But in this fast world, we hardly take the time to listen, or even TRYing to understand another persons point of view.

I always tried to keep an open mind, and tried to listen, understand, and research ALL sides of the issues that I have been following.

And I can tell that
to every issue there are as many sides as there are people involved.

In general, with few exeptions, the startpoint of ANY argument is of GOOD willed nature.

It is only because there are people that didn't take the time and efford to fully understand the argument that was the START, that a dis-agreement starts, which, whith so many people around, can easily escalate into a HUGE 'drama'.

People!!

We do not need to be right all the time, and even if we are, we do not need it to be the main point of the argument.

It is okay to disagree.

It is NOT okay to force your opinion on others.

My final outcome, in my research is, that the internet is a great place to meet new people, from all over the world, but that you need to be aware of the fact that nothing SEEMS what it IS.

In short, there are ALWAYS more sides to ANY story than that we see, even if we REALY try to see all sides.

My advice?

I do NOT have any solutions, but if people would realy want my advice:

Be nice to EVERYONE, even if you do not agree with them, give no-one a reason to dislike you.

This will NOT, however, leave you scot-free, it merely reduces the risks.

The less you interact, the less trouble you will have with others, but life is not all about reducing risks.

Just remember, this is JUST the internet, there is ALWAYS the outside-world.

I will be leaving LiveVideo alone from now on, when it comes to my studies, but I will leave my account valid, and hop in every now and then, to check up on my mail.

I did meet some GREAT people here, and hope that EVERYONE here will eventually find their peace with oneanother.
