 | | | Let It Snow - for Surfcottage 02:10 It's not every day that you meet someone who prefers the snowy days of winter over the summer's sun, but Surfcottage is one such person. I hope this more...helps her beat the heat by thinking cool thoughts. Unfortunately, winter will be here before we know it! ;) xoxoxo
Most of the pics are from winters in Ontario and Quebec, and of Vernon, BC's "Silver Star" ski resort.
Also, this is a "Snow Tag"!! I've tagged JUSTCALLMEHU and RhiannonRose, so watch for their wintry vids soon and get your snowy pics ready! Blame Surfcottage! ;) lol less Added: 1 day ago Views: 78 Category: Travel & Places |
| | Java Jive - for TheCoffeeHouse 03:06 TheCoffeeHouse is expertly owned and operated by two of the nicest ladies on LV, CH1 and CH2, our favorite baristas. They make their rounds, watching more...vids and delivering steaming cups of coffee or tea made just the way we like it! This is my thanks to them for brightening the days of so many LVidians. The song is "Java Jive" by the Ink Spots, (1940). less Added: 6 days ago Views: 152 Category: Music |
| | | Alhambra 04:32 This piece of music, “Memories of Alhambra” by Francisco Tarrega, is played here by Canadian, Manfred Harter, whom I have had the pleasure to meet and more...who has played many wonderful arrangements for me. I knew nothing of the Alhambra, but as was the case with a previous piece of Manfred’s music, “Mystery of Tikal”, I wanted to know what it was that attracted him to this piece.
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex in southern Spain. It sits on a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada. Once the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, it was designed to reflect the very beauty of Paradise itself, with its gardens, fountains, streams, palace, and a mosque, all inside a fortress wall. It is now one of Spain's major tourist attractions and on my "Bucket List" -- those special things to see or do before I die. ;) less Added: Jul 18, 08 Views: 53 Category: Travel & Places |
| | The Way I Feel 03:46 Another beautiful, haunting song in the Lightfoot Series. This one stars the American Robin and the stately, majestic Oak Tree. Please stop by the YT more...Tribute Channel at http://ca.youtube.com/user/thomasj157 to see the videos not presented here.
The Way I Feel (The Way I Feel) 3:02 The way I feel is like a robin Whose babes have flown to come no more Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin' When the birds have flown and the nest is bare
Now a woman lord is like a young bird And the tall oak tree is a young man's heart Among his boughs you will find her nesting When the nights are cool she is warm and dry
Your coat of green it will protect her Her wings will grow your love will too But all too soon your mighty branches Will cease to hold her and she'll fly from you
Now the way I feel is like a robin Whose babes have flown to come no more Like a tall oak tree alone and cryin’ When the birds have flown and the nest is bare When the birds have flown and the nest is bare

| | | Spin Spin 02:32 There could be only one subject for this wonderful Gordon Lightfoot song – a spider’s web. You must admit that there’s nothing quite as magical as a more...web when it’s intricacies are highlighted with the sunlight and the morning dew – except, or course, the web of Love.
Spin, Spin (Sunday Concert Plus) 2:29 So fine, so fine the web you spin, I come too close and I'm caught again! In a web of wild design, I do not know what fate is mine! All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin!
Well my daddy said when I was young, "Beware the web of love, my son, To be in love is to be insane, Make an old man groan, a young man pain!" All the day, sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin!
Then I did grow and the time did fly, Many a true love passed me by. And then you came like a blinding storm, I landed in your web so warm, All the day, sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin!
So fine, so fine the web you spin, I come too close and I'm caught again! In a web of wild desire, And I cannot control the fire! All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in.
All the day sit and spin, You spin your web and you draw me in. Spin, spin, spin, spin! Spin, spin, spin, spin!

| | Rockin' Down The Highway 03:22 "Cruise Nights" and outdoor car club shows are a great way to pass the time on a warm summer's afternoon or evening. All of these photos, with three more...exceptions, were taken locally over the past few years. Hubby loves old cars and I love to photograph them -- it's a match made in car heaven! lol Enjoy "Rockin' down the highway"! less Added: Jul 13, 08 Views: 137 Category: Auto & Vehicles |
| | | Same Old Loverman 03:27 When I heard this song the very first time, Elvis came to mind. I asked a few others and once again, Elvis was the first person to pop into their heads more...too, so, Elvis it is!
Same Old Loverman (Songbook) 3:21 I'm not some long lost someone Just dropped in to say hello It's that same old lover man Baby you lost so long ago 'Cause I was born to believe I never could deceive Believe me
I hear no children's voices Have they gone back to school And that same old lover man Is still acting like a fool I guess I was born to bring you grief Though I never was a thief Believe me
It's cold outside your window Please let me in, the night is wild It's that same old lover man Not some lonesome winsome child An' I was born to believe I never could deceive

| | Miguel 04:15 Miguel, to me, is Gordon Lightfoot's "El Paso" -- the sad story of a hard life, bad decision, untimely death and an everlasting love. It was difficult more...to find "period" pics for this one, so I must thank Tj for coming to my rescue and providing some of them. That's what made this truly a "team" effort!
Miguel (Summer Side of Life) 4:12 Never had much to say He traveled alone with no friends Like a shadowy ghost At dawn he came and he went Through the woodland swiftly gliding To the young maid he came riding Where she'd run to meet him By the garden wall
Oh my sweet Miguel I will never tell No one will ever know What I know too well And he'd smile and lay his head on her breast And he'd say I have no fear They're waiting for me to cross the border, to swim the river ‘Cause I've done that before To see my true love's smiling face A hundred times or more Oh my sweet Miguel she cried I'll love you ‘til I die He was born to the south In Mexico they say The child of a man Who was soon gone away But his mother loved him dearly And she would take him yearly To the great cathedral in St. Augustine
Oh my young Miguel Listen to the bell Of my poverty You must never tell And he cried himself to sleep in the night And he vowed to make things right So he took the gun down from the wall and he paid a call He knew she'd understand A lawman came to capture him The gun jumped in his hand Oh Miguel the mother cried You must run son or you'll die
So the story is told Of his true love 'cross the line As strong as the oak And as sweet as the vine And the child she bore him Came on the fateful morning When they sent him to his final rest
Oh my sweet Miguel Listen to the bell No one will ever know What I know too well Then she'd smile and lay the child on her breast And she'd say I have no fear I'm waiting for you to cross the border, to swim the river 'Cause you've done that before To see your true love's smiling face A hundred times or more Oh my sweet Miguel she cried I'll love you ‘til I die

| | | For My Wonderful Crew 04:06 This tribute to my Crew is long overdue, and for that I must apologize. Many people drift in and out of our LV lives, but a few we are privileged to more...get to know better and share our lives with, even if only via the keyboard. These people are the people who have touched my heart by what they do, or more importantly, who they are as a person. I am honoured to have them as my Crew, and especially as friends. less Added: Jun 22, 08 Views: 160 Category: People |
| | Rag Mop - for Brob11 & his Boyz 02:43 This little slideshow is for my dear friend Bob (Brob11) and his "boyz". I thought these "smooth-coated" guys might get a kick out of seeing a video more...on the hairier members of the species. ;) The song is "Rag Mop" by The Ames Brothers, released in January, 1950 and 14 weeks on the charts, peaking at #1. Guest appearances by family pets: Penny, Barley, Jake and Cooper. Enjoy! ~~ Lynn xoxo less Added: Jun 14, 08 Views: 99 Category: Pets & Animals |
| | | The Last Time I Saw Her 05:17 Another incredible song in the Gordon Lightfoot Series. It's always interesting to find photos that depict the emotion and allow the viewer to experience more...the journey that the music and lyrics take us on. I'd like to publicly thank Tj (StonewallStudios) for always pushing me to make it that little bit better. I hope he never stops. ~~ Lynn

The Last Time I Saw Her (Did She Mention My Name) 5:10 The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and her hair hung long The last time she spoke to me, her lips were like the scented flowers inside a rain-drenched forest But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more
The last time I walked with her Her laughter was the steeple bells That ring to greet the morning sun A voice that called to everyone To love the ground we walked upon Those were the good days
The last time I held her hand, her touch was autumn, spring and summer, and winter too The last time I let go of her, she walked away into the night I lost her in the misty streets, a thousand months, a thousand years When other lips will kiss her eyes A million miles beyond the moon, that's where she is
But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and she walked alone
The last time she kissed my cheek Her lips were like the wilted leaves Upon the autumn covered hills Resting on the frozen ground The seeds of love lie cold and still Beneath a battered marking stone It lies forgotten
