 | | "If you watch TV, then you've seen my work!" | Harry Douglas began his career when his talent for all things technical emerged at the age of 14. Fixing television sets, installing sound systems, and recording bands in his home built multi-track studio, Harry knew that a career in technology was what he was best suited for. With that in mind, Harry attended JCU, where he gained his business sense by pursuing his degree in economics while working in the school’s media department. Soon even Harry’s teachers were coming to him for his technical expertise. Upon graduation in the late 1970’s, Harry landed a job at Sony Teletronics. He later went on to become chief engineer at North American Video, where his editing career took off. Later, Harry went to work for IPC and learned under an engineer, who designed stages and editing systems for CBS and Unitel. With all of his technical training under Harry’s belt, he soon realized he knew more than enough to begin his own business. Thus, in 1990, Magnetic was born. Today, it’s one of the most well known, cutting edge post- production facilities serving the creative media industry. Harry designed the Magnetic Post facility from scratch, based on information obtained from a focus groups detailing what clients were looking for. As a result, Magnetic’s 6,000 square foot facility on Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street in the heart of New York City was born, designed with the deconstructionist philosophy of utilizing everything for a multiple purpose. The facility’s relaxed atmosphere offers a large open loft space that accommodates sound in its design, with no two walls parallel and each room its own unique shape to correct sound. With every editing room interchangeable, clients are able to stay focused on their creative goals. This combination of the highest quality broadcast film and video services provided at the lowest possible cost has led Magnetic to becoming a world class facility that has cornered the industry and retains many satisfied clients.
