To my embarrassment I'm a former fundamentalist Christian. However, several years ago I left all that craziness behind me. I've dumped Western organized religions for a more individual spiritual path. I'm mostly interested in Zen Buddhism, and New Age. I'm a huge fan of Eckhart Tolle, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra. Some hard core Christians are saying these men are basically doing the devil's bidding, but I've learned alot from these men and I don't really care what Christians have to say about more...them. If I'm deceived for listening to them, so be it. I'd much rather be deceived and loving my life than to claim to know truth and hate everyone else who doesn't agree with me.
As far as any beliefs I have about God: I am not absolutely certain there is a God at least not in the conventional sense --like some angry old man in the sky-- but I'm willing to bet there is a Consciousness responsible for the creation of the Universe. Who or what it is I won't venture to say.
God, Super Intelligence, the Source, or whatever term you prefer, is beyond normal human comprehension, so therefore, it is impossible for words to capture God's true essence. We cannot accurately communicate God and Absolute Truth with mental constructs, like words. Words are merely signposts that point to the Truth, but they aren't the Truth.
To interprete the words in books like the Bible as literal reality is the fundamental mistake of all organized religions that profess their holy scriptures as containing the only way to Truth. Doing so completely misses the point of their esteemed holy books which is quite simply to point the way to Truth. They can't actually tell us what the Truth is.
The way is within us all. Each of has to figure that out for ourselves for it is a universal quest. Once the quest is discovered, we then realize that that discovery is our ultimate purpose. less |

Jesus: The Forrest Gump of Christianity Jun 25, 08 (I'm feeling contemplative) | | I do not regard the gospels as history; I see them as historic documents of an ancient mythology. They are legends, and fantasy, nothing more. Some of the characters portrayed in these mythologies ... View More | |
