 | | "flap on..." | Hey all... I'm another one of those folks who's arrived here from YouTube. LiveVideo will be my main home for all things music (due to the great sound quality here), but I'll still remain on both sites. If you want to check out my YouTube channel, you can find it here. Please also check out the ifriend channel, where my friend Neal and I have posted a series of videos chronicling the ups, downs, and (mis)adventures of our band, Imaginary Friend.

 | | | My Baby Fell For Ol' St. Nick 03:01 A holiday music video for my LiveVideo pals... which was originally posted on YouTube a year ago (oops). Sorry for the delay over here, but at least you more...guys get it in stereo! Wheee!
This song was originally written by Michael Gurley of the band dada (see www.dadatheband.com for more info). All instruments in this version are by me... except the jingle bell, which was gratuitously stolen from "¡Que Vida!" by Love (1967).
If you are interested, a higher quality stereo mp3 file can be downloaded here:

| | Imaginary Friend - "Blue Oyster Blues" 04:40 (Originally posted on YouTube - July 20, 2007)
This is an original music video by my "band", Imaginary Friend. We do have a channel here, but we don't more...use it because (apparently) we drop too many f-bombs... so our videos get deleted by LiveVideo. Doesn't make too much sense to me, but whatcha gonna do? *shrug*
Anyways, so if you want to see and hear more from Imaginary Friend (most of our videos are currently in the "comedy" genre), please do check out our main channel on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/ifriend
If you actually enjoy this, there's more where it came from on our new CD - "A, B & C". Sample clips, lyrics, chords and more are available on our web site (you can buy the CD there too). Check us out at:

Flap on!

LYRICS:
Well I'm alone in the deep blue ocean All alone that's me So alone in the deep blue ocean The loneliest thing in the sea I got a home in the deep blue ocean My shell follows me But I'm alone in the deep blue ocean As blue as an oyster can be
Well do you know someone Who could love me? Maybe a mussel or even a clam So I won't have to be
Just alone in the deep blue ocean All alone that's me So alone in the deep blue ocean The loneliest thing in the sea I got a home in the deep blue ocean My shell follows me But I'm alone in the deep blue ocean As blue as an oyster can be
Well I gotta find someone That'll treat me right A scallop or even a quahog That'll spend the night... I'm so alone
*solo*
He's alone in the deep blue ocean He's tired of being free So alone in the deep blue ocean The loneliest thing in the sea He's got a home in the deep blue ocean A shell for all to see But he's alone in the deep blue ocean As blue as an oyster can be
He's gotta find someone That'll spend the night A clam, mussel or even a quahog That'll treat him right less Added: Jul 24, 07 Views: 237 Category: Music |
| | | Maybe I'm Amazed 04:22 Part 3 in an ongoing series of songs for my special lady...
My baby and I were discussing this song a few days ago and (of course), I was immediately more...inspired to record it for my next video. It kind of kills me to do such an overdone song... but it is actually meaningful, so I guess that makes it OK ;)
For those of you who don't know (all two of you), this song was originally written and recorded by Paul McCartney for his first solo album in 1970. I recorded my version yesterday (yes, all instruments are by me - I seem to get this question a lot). The video was filmed and edited this afternoon.
A better quality audio file (stereo mp3) is available here if anyone is interested:

Until next time...

BACKGROUND:
This is the cover version of "Hi-Fidelity" I did for Peri Urban's "Let Me Hear You" more...project. More info on this project can be found at the original video page on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xheJMAATj4
Peri's original version of the song can be found here:

And, if for some strange reason you've happened upon this video and have no idea who Peri Urban is, please check out his channel here:

THE SONG:
I picked this song because I figured it would be fun, quick, and easy to record. I suppose the fact that it's a little bit "out-there" also helped as well. I put the recording itself together within an hour or two. If you are interested in a higher quality version of the recording, you can get it at Peri's web site here:
http://www.periurban.com/blankets.html
...along with all of the other project submissions.
THE VIDEO:
I got out of work early on Halloween and had the idea to do this as I was driving home. I rushed to put together the various props I needed (to start filming while there was still daylight left). I filmed everything I needed within a couple of hours and put the video together the following weekend. This was the first time I ever attempted the compositing effect seen in this video (I had no idea if it would even work), so it's kind of a crappy job... but the fact that I actually pulled it off was good enough for me!
Trivia: Yes, Billy. That really IS a 78 rpm record... less Added: Jan 15, 07 Views: 475 Category: Music |
| | | Lady 05:30 (Originally posted on YouTube - November 25, 2006)
Part 2 in an ongoing series of songs for my special lady...
What happens when you miss someone more...so damn much that it's slowly destroying you inside and you've ceased to function like a normal human being? You throw yourself into some kind of project to occupy yourself... in this case, I've recorded yet another song for her (which I'm now expecting will be but one of many... so be forewarned).
This time up, the song is "Lady" by the Little River Band (1978). The audio was recorded and mixed on the night before Thanksgiving. The video was shot the day after Thanksgiving. Why did I pick this song? LRB is a band that we both totally "geek out" on together... so in a way, recording a song by them helped a lot to get me through this rough time. Sigh...

PS - to those with sensitive ears, apologies for my slightly out-of-tune piano...
PPS - I should also note that the version of the video on this site seems to be a little "choppy", and I'm not sure why. *shrug* It's not my fault, I trusted those guys... so, sorry about that! less Added: Jan 12, 07 Views: 1,426 Category: Music |
| | All The Right Reasons 03:39 (Originally posted on YouTube - October 22, 2006)
Part 1 in an ongoing series of songs for my special lady...
...or, video experimentation via a more...Jayhawks cover.
I have been trying to figure out an easy way to do cuts/transitions between two video takes against a pre-recorded audio track... unsuccessfully. However, I did stumble upon an alternative method of tackling the same problem (as seen in this video). This technique unfortunately only works well in cases where you want to use fades as your only means of transition. It looked kind of of cool, so I ran with it.
Anyways... this song is a cover I quickly (emphasis on "quickly") put together a few months back. It's one of the only audio tracks I had lying around which could be used for this experiment, so that's why I picked it.
A better quality mp3 version is available here for anyone who is interested:
