Although wrong in many cases Descartes got some points spot on.

Is there no room for intelligent debate? Are we(*Christians) just dismissed as fantacy fanatics? Isn't it true that according to the teleological argument, neither side has claim to evidence nor logic....only faith. Therefore, I have chosen intelligently more...to believe in a loving and personal Creator as opposed to a cosmic flatulence! Wanna talk?

To begin with, I'm not Nick Gisburne.
The teleological argument or argument from design is the logical fallacy Affirming the Consequent.

Therefore, p.
The argument usually uses a watch as an example, we know that the watch is designed and more...built by humans who have accumulated the knowledge over time. God, on the other hand, is hiding in the gaps and one has to first make the assumption that all living things is to complex(argument from personal incredulity) to have evolved, then take the leap of faith to the conclusion.
The teleological argument is only appealing to those who already believe in a God and thus sees this as a confirmation. The theory of evolution and other scientific progress has filled most of the gaps that existed 2k years ago.
If one choose to believe in a magical being, one of which there is as much evidence for as Thor, FSM, IPU, Loch Ness Monster, Moth Man etc it can't be expected to be taken seriously at all times, especially when it's making scientific claims.
I personally don't care what people do in their free time whether it's anal sex or praying to god, as long as it doesn't harm anyone. less
